    No.

Come to think about it, I've never been fired from a job in my 40 years working.

BTW - "Fired" has a pretty negative tone to it. It implies that you were released "for cause" as opposed to RIF'd because a position was eliminated.

Absolutely. A couple of times. It just is that way sometimes, don't worry about it too much.

I am listed as fired, but ultimately, I quit. I worked at Target while I was in college, and a snowstorm up north caused a delay in the paychecks being shipped. So everyone had to get paid out in cash from the cash office...only, no one gave me the memo. This was on Christmas Eve, at 1am, by the time we were ready to leave the store. I found out, and wanted to get cashed out, only the manager said the cash office was closed now. I said I wanted my money. He said I could get it in three days, I said no. He said there was nothing he could do. I told him to call his boss, he wouldn't (it was 1am, after all), so I called him a ****ing moron douch bag, and he'd better give me my ****ing money. (I used to have a pretty bad temper). In the end, I left (without saying I quit), and got a call day after Christmas explaining that I was not to go back to target ever again, and that my check had been mailed. He said I was fired, I laughed and hung up.

I've never been fired from a job, as of yet. It would have to be really really bad, for me to lose my cool enough to get fired.

Yup. Owner was a criminal and the business collapsed, along with a few weeks of back-pay I was owed.

Yes. I was fired a couple years ago for whistle-blowing. And I'm damn proud.

cp, I've lost a job due to the company going under too, but I don't think that counts as firing? I think that's under the umbrella of being laid off.

There's a difference between "no longer being employed" and being fired. I think the OP is actually referring to being fired.

And being fired definitely has a negative tone to it, but being fired is not always the fired person's fault. Yeah, usually it is but not always. Take the whistle blowing example upthread. There's also the office politics reason that some people have seen or even experienced.
