I would say around 10,000 is wasted to an extent. I would rather enjoy life as much as I can now rather than leaving someone else richer in the end.

I'd say that $10k is really pretty reasonable for a lot of people. That's only $200 a week on "stuff".

My wife and I don't do vacations; we eat out 3-4 times a month and take a couple short day trips when we have time. All in all, I figure we spend in the $3k - $4k range annually on incidental stuff.

I can't say that because even though I have a great life with few regrets I want my children to have a batter one then I did.

By the way love your avatar.

Well, I haven't had a real vacation in 15 years if that tells you anything. I barely have two dimes to rub together. I have a kid graduating high school next year and another the year after that.

I have a 401k, money invested in etrade, and two pensions....however, I don't have extra money laying around to spend frivolously.

I wish I did.

I need a damn break.

Well just do it.

I don't have enough money to do that, lol.

Though, I can imagine it getting rather pricey. Especially before I have any kids, somewhere between the 5-7 grand range. Which won't be that bad considering the job I'm going to get.

I'd hate to die with $100 in my pocket.

I would feel different if I had children, but I don't and at this age I don't think I will.
