Too little, too late... He should have never said that garbage in the first place, and should have been fired on the spot.

As far as I'm concerned, he can shove that apology up his pretentious ass.

Being about as distant from Sarah Palin as from MSNBC politically, I am ready to accept any long-winded apology, as long as it is delivered with a clipped British accent.

I'm not a fan of Martin's. I always felt he got too fired up and I could not trust him to be objective, plus it's just annoying. But, we're all human and make mistakes. I say, watch and see how it affects his performance in the future. If he applies better self control and greater objectivity, move on.

We all know that there are pundits out there who say vile things every day and I rarely hear apologies from them.

I think it sounded sincere, he's saying sorry, hes acknowledged his mistake, and so long as his mistake doesn't cause the loss in healthcare of millions of Americans, I say accept it.

You forgot option #5 Pete... Both 1 & 2

I don't think the man should be fired - he's representative of MSNBC's audience and the mean spirited, personal hatred shown by liberals against conservatives - particular strong, female conservatives. No one can deny that liberals refer to strong female conservatives in the most vile, ignorant terms. Check out any number of liberal comments by political commentators or even liberals here on DP when they discuss Palin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Liz Cheney, Michelle Bachmann, etc. etc.

I don't care. MSNBC is the polar opposite of Fox. Although I do not know if anyone in Fox said the same thing Bashir did.

Fired. His comments were well over the line, even for a network like MSNBC.

Palin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Liz Cheney, Michelle Bachmann, etc. etc.

Cringing here a little, as a liberal (in the original sense) heterosexual male. OK, maybe Palin is a well-meaning fool, but the rest on the list - -?

What's wrong with: Susana Martinez, Nikki Haley, Mia Love - or Angela Merkel, for that matter?

There's nothing wrong with them - all very fine women - but liberals don't comment on them because they don't make a living publicly challenging liberal thinking and actions.

Actually, they pretty much do - just in more intelligent and professional ways.

The apology was plenty to make up for it. Maybe a short suspension without pay if this is the first time he's screwed up. I'm not sure why we demand perfection from people in the media. What a bunch of whiny crybabies we've become. "Waaaah, that man said something mean and hurt my feelings, I demand he be fired!".

Unless he called her a raging **** on air and hoped out loud that her children die in a fiery bus accident while she ends up a quadruplegic slowly dying of rectal cancer then firing him is going to far.

I think Martin and myself took Palin's comments about slavery different. With China buying up huge chunks of our debt, they own more of it than any other nation. When it comes due or when they want their money back, we may indeed become slaves in a sense to them. I can see in the future if China doesn't want us to do something, they will threaten us with the money we owe them. An example might be, don't bomb Syria or we will cash in all the U.S. Treasury bonds we hold of yours. There is that possibility they could have us over a barrel. This should be another reason to get our fiscal house in order ASAP.

China already has the USA over a barrel. Not so much for the debt, but for our dependency on them for nearly all our goods and products, with the USA no longer capable of producing our own goods.

Yeah, very true. Even our military is buying the boots they wear from China. Yep, that is another aspect to think about.

I agree with this, but I think Ann Coulter is an exception. Have you heard the things she's said about 9/11 widows? If you had, I suspect you wouldn't have said this;

In my opinion, Ann deserves all the hatred she gets, and it's an insult to the rest of the woman you mentioned to lump them with her.

As opposed to conservatives, who are such gleaming beacons of friendly discourse and would never say anything nasty about a liberal, male or female. Right.

Ann Coulter? Didn't s(he) go back to to being the lead dancer in 'Bro Kimbro's Lance in Yer Pants She-male Revue'? Bless her empty head. Do you remember her 'correcting' Bob McKeown on Canada sending troops to Viet Nam?

Keep him on air. People need to see what the heart of liberalism is really like.

Conservatives here are so complimentary to Nancy Pelosi. Not.

Doesn't she also advise that you shouldn't speak to Liberals?

That's nice, isn't she just a beacon of kindness?
