How much monthly would you be willing to pay for clean air service?

What's a fair price for clean air/month

Internet, which was invented by military funded with tax dollars now costs me about $70/month (it was $5/month when they first hijacked it from the people)
TV also used to be free I think costs around $30-$200/month (I can live without that, but I know people invented and no longer have it for free)
etc.
So what's the fair price for clean air?

Zero, we already have clean air.

My internet is also free, but for some reason I have to pay for "service" which could have been provided by dudes killing people in the middle east.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

After reading the OP...ANYTHING based on that silly premise suffers automatically from fatal logic errors.

I know, the OP was pretty much sense-free also.

Um, free internet? Somebody has to produce and maintain all those servers and fiber-optic lines...

I have grave doubts I even understand what this is all about, but stoner logic never was my strong suit...

TV is still "free", the internet can still be accessed fairly cheaply using S L O W landlines (even free and fast if WIFI is available) and the air is cleaner in many places. If you wish to pay for clean(er) air then vote for green candidates.

Right. OK. I see. You just choose to give up. Compared to Genghis Khan, I think Social Security works magnificent. TSA, Homeland Security, Dept of Energy, Education, NRC, SEC, and others don't really work, but provide gov't jobs. Distribution of some of the tax money collected. Defense is Corporate Welfare and it is only one of many, Yeh, there you go, must be I like that welfare for the citizens. Those one vote citizens that can't afford to buy a Senator or Congressman.

I only "give up" temporarily, after all, shooting environmentalist and liberals is kind of against the law and a person could end up in prison for life if they do it. The greatest step we could take would be to disband the current EPA, bring in real scientist and come up with actual working models and plans that also take into account balancing "environment" against human needs.

If we have to stop using modern technology to clean up the environment, then what use is that environment?

It depends on where you live.

Some places on this planet have plenty of clean air and it's free, other places-not so much.

If you would not be overrun with anger but be able to think logicaly, you could insult me just the same without breaking any rules, however I can tell that you are quick to judge slow to understand type. I have a "friend" who "served" in Iraq and Afghanistan who comes to my place to drink for free, because he's my friend, not because he is an idiot (which he is) and we don't talk about politics because I don't want to hurt his pride, but when I did and everyone got pissed off in my bar, I should point out that the people who actually WERE in the "battle" are not so pissed off, it's the people who never did anything that find the need to "stand up" to this idiocy. like the politicians who want to "support our brave kids in uniform" yet none of the senators/congressmen even had their children "serving" in Iraq/Afghanistan. fn pathetic. and then there is this poker player McCain who fell off the plane and was rescued by Asians who now is considered a war hero.
SICK society, SICK!!!!!!!
!

You have a huge problem and you are way off topic on your own thread.

Actually I live in the middle of Allegheny national forest in PA. 2000 feet above sea level

You could probably breathe easier in a lower, drier climate. I don't know if that would increase or decrease your living expenses.

Hi neighbor. I'm about 50 miles or less NE of you. Race sometimes at Allegheny Mountain and Bradford and Smethport. You've got great air in your neighborhood. That is a beautiful area and I hope the bar business is boomin'. Hunting season, wowser.

That makes no sense whatsoever.
It makes perfect sense if you use logic: people paid taxes with supported the military which invented the internet.
THEN, at the convenient time, people with big money bought the internet and took over.
THIS reminds me of how one time me, my mom and my dad were looking for this building in Moscow, and were walking around all frustrated, and then when we finally saw the building we were looking for, my mom exclaimed in a frustrating tone "that's it, now I will lead" as if to say that we were stupid but now she found it. same exact thing here, big money corporations take over internet, health care, you name it. LOSER USA. keep paying more taxes to pay the debt owed to someone I don't know who.

Cool! nice to meet you. I don't feel like running the bar business lately, too busy with other stuff, DUI laws + economy make it a difficult business to run in this place, I did not buy the bar to run it, just cause we liked the place, the woods... it was cheap. screw the alcoholics - it's entertaining for a while, but then gets tiring...

There are oxygen bars and stuff like that already, but they're mostly a gimmick. The world won't get to a point where it's a two-tier air system, where the rich pay for premium air and the poor breathe polluted air. That may be someone's corporate business pipe dream but as usual they'd be ignoring externalities. If the air is so polluted that people must pay for filtration otherwise suffer shortened lives, then the global ecosystem would be collapsing and we would be as good as dead anyway.

It's a little more negotiable when it comes to water, electricity, heat, things like that... in terms of what humans can withstand. But air? It's either/or. You either have potable air or you're dead. I have faith that humans are smart enough to switch to a more environmentally conscious economic model before it comes to that. But you never know I guess... there are people out there who would gladly cling to their suitcases of money even as the apocalypse is happening.

I don't know anyone who rents home air filtration systems. They buy them. I can't see renting one.

Does the author of this forum rent an air filtration or purification system or machine? It takes a prescription now to buy an oxygen generator and there are some risks of dependency with those if you turn them too high.

I think heavy fines against those polluting my/your air would be sensible. That's the fair price. Put the polluters out of business. With the realities of Global Warming, we need to have a "take no prisoners", "no holds barred" approach to our atmosphere. If that is socialist, fine. It is more just common sense.

But that wouldn't be PC.

Nah, just put some baking soda in water then run a dc current through it, it will give off some oxygen, ignore that hydrogen, it's harmless, unless of course you happen to be smoking at the time. Remember, O2 and H2 does not mix well with flame.

Yeah look I was around and involved with computers when the Internet came into being, and before, and that's not exactly how it happened.

First tell me what the hell all this has to do with paying for clean air.

I am afraid I will have to pay for it one day, just like I am paying now for internet that should be free since it was invented for peoples tax dollars

Maintenance on those servers and fiber-optic lines and routers and etc requires resources... machines, technicians, etc. How could it be free when there are ongoing costs?

Comparing the two makes no sense. The internet is an ongoing cost, air is outside your door.

Compare the ongoing cost of wars in the middle east with the ongoing cost of internet service. then it will start to make sense.

Not really. But, have fun with your disingenuous comparisons.

You can have fun when your government will collapse in it's own debt because of it's shenanigans and the ignorance of people who support it
