Why? Because of Watergate? If you read a couple of books on LBJ and some of the stuff that has been released from his library you would find he actually did what Nixon was accused of trying to do. The huge difference, no democratic congress was ever going to challenge him, they would Nixon and rightly so.

Did you know Nixon gave us the EPA, OSHA, the endangered Species Act. He backed Affirmative Action and funds for education. He open the door to recognizance of Red China and lots more.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Have you ever had such sentiments?
Yes he is my president. But I do not have to support a damn thing he does if what he is doing goes against my values and beliefs.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Depends on how you define "your."

I am a citizen of the US, Obama i the president of the US. This, he is my president. Is my my president in the sense of me wanting or choosing him? No. Is he my president by statute and authority? Yes.

This thread reminds of an old song by Credence Clearwater Revival, "Fortunate Son."

"Some folks are born to wave the flag, ooh that red, white and blue...and when they play hail to the Chief, they point the cannon at you."

Re: Is the President YOUR President?

I didn't vote in the poll because of its wording. Basically, I have always accepted that the president, whether I liked him or not, was the president of my country and therefore my president. I certainly do not always support the president. Obama has pissed me off royally more times than not, and when Bush W went into Iraq I was so furious that if I could have disowned him then and there I would have.

The short answer is yes, the President of the United States is my president... even if I want to strangle him with my bare hands. ... Uh... do you think the Secret Service is monitoring this???

Still one of the best protest songs ever written.

I am willing to put matters of ideology over my loyalty to my country. The difference is, I have the integrity not to call myself a "patriot" when doing so.

Yep, he's my President and Commander in Chief. I abhor ALMOST every decision he makes. However, if people from other countries criticize him I don't take kindly to it. He may be the worst POTUS ever but he's my worst POTUS ever and no foreigner is gonna criticize him without me saying something about it........even if he may be a foreigner as well
