Re: Is the President YOUR President?

I had it drilled into my head as a kid that you respect the rank (or in this case the office) if not the man.

I try very hard to do that.

Yes, President Obama is my president.

That said, I have lost any shred of respect I may have once had for President Obama. I truly believe he is one of the worst presidents this country has ever had.

There is very little he has done, or that he would do, that I support.

And the end of the fight is a tombstone white with the name of the late deceased,
And the epitaph drear: “A Fool lies here who tried to hustle the East.”

You had a ton of Democrats saying the same thing when Bush the second was elected.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

I suspect that most people have no idea what to do to fix things, so they keep voting the same folks that created the problems back into office, hoping things will change. We all know the definition of insanity... :

Every President has been "my President " regardless of whether I voted for him or not.

Having respect for the office, the highest electoral office in the land, does not equate absolutely to showing or having respect for the person who actually holds the office. Having the ability and the strength to vehemently disagree with what your elected representative is doing in his/her office is the very essence of democracy.

If people blindly support President Obama against all evidence suggesting they should do otherwise, that doesn't make them patriotic, that just makes them blind fools. For the better part of a decade or perhaps more, people have been stroking Obama as if he's some kind of genious and now the dolt actually believes it. Perhaps if he'd gotten a little more friction in his face before now, he wouldn't be such an arrogant, egotistical, poor excuse of a leader.
Accepting that a POTUS is your POTUS does not equate for blind support of every (or any) policy. That is what freedom of speech is for.

BTW, you think Obama didn't get a lot of friction from the get go?

The problem here is that the obnoxious fringe takes over. ANd in this country, the obnoxious fringe is very well financed. How many months and years were spent on the birth certificate crap? The thing was produced and verified, then we had about, what, 2 years of "long form"crap? Then the college transcript crap? Then the secret Muslim due to his early education in a Muslim country. Which is funny because the other group was after him for attending a specific Christian church.

Then the Tea Party.....we will forget for a moment that they are supposed to be about fiscal responsibility, but can become so socially aimed that they are more -"tea-vangelicals" .The Tea Party that insists it is about change of the way things work but will not allow talk about what lead us into the current fiscal crisis under a Republican Administration.

Seriously, I cannot believe you think that you think that Obama did not get friction. He did, it is just that idiots were looking for "gotchya" moments more than anything.

    Other.

Yes, he is my president. So was Bush.

Don't mean that I like either of them though.

I might whine and complain about them both but my politics stop at the shore.

I will complain about them here but defend them when some foreigner starts mouthing off about my president.

You see, the way I look at it, the president was elected because most Americans chose them to be president (with few exceptions.) To bad mouth the decision of the majority of Americans, doing the math, is simply "Anti-American," to me.

Seriously, I cannot believe that you think that Obama has received friction, the kind of friction that any opponent he has faced has had to endure. That's just "drinking the kool-ade" nonsense.
