Select all you would be happy with as the republican nominee for president in 2016. Please only vote if you are not a democrat and would potentially vote republican in the 2016 presidential race. Also please add other names I missed in the thread.

Adding poll, please be patient.

I'm not a Democrat, but I think Chris Christie would be the most sensible candidate. Which means he's in real trouble with the TP.

He'd probably be more sensible than any of the names I've seen for the Dem nod so far.

Some other Republicans I might consider voting for president are Susana Martinez, NM Governor, perhaps John Kasich the Ohio Governor, Senator Lamar Alexander, TN, ex IN governor Mitch Daniels. But going by just those on your list, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and perhaps Rubio. Huntsman intrigues me in an intriguing sort of way.

I'm a registered independent (but more closely align myself with the conservatives) and if the vote was held today it would be Christie. However, there is a long way to go.

I voted other.... At the moment it is a little early to consider. From my view, neither party has a viable candidate at this time.

Good day to ya' Redress

It's a hard choice for actual conservatives, as opposed to the neo-cons that run the Republican Party, because I don't know that any of the candidates listed are actual conservatives. I honestly don't want most of the above to be anywhere near Washington D.C. now, much less as President.

There was only 10 poll spots, so I had to limit it somewhat. I forgot my buddy Herman Caine, who of all the candidates last election is the one I would most like to meet and sit down and chat with.

I bet that would be interesting, the godfather of Godfathers Pizza. At least he came up with a plan on the deficit, perhaps his numbers were way off, but his 9-9-9 plan did catch my attention. I think I would like to pick the brain of John Huntsman, after all he speaks fluent Chinese.

Politically I have no use for Caine, but he was the only candidate who somehow came off as likable to me. You could imagine putting politics aside, getting him telling stories and being fascinated and entertained.

I'm a Green, but Ron Paul always makes sense. The same can't be said for the fruit of his loins.

Rand Paul. We need someone who values liberty over a police state.

And as far as Chris Christie goes, we don't need the morbidly obese president dying in office from a heart attack.

I liked Herman Caine during the last election. If the liberals didn't sabotage his campaign with lies I would have voted for him. I don't know about this time around.

I'm reverse of you....Ron Paul has always been a nut job to me. Rand Paul at least has sense.

I am sure you would. Caine wouldn't let you down. Christie might be an interesting one to get together over some beers. I like his bulldog personality.

That reminds me of the joke going around down here during the 1988 election. Bush/Quayle vs. Dukakis/Bensen. the question was do I vote for Dukakis and hope he dies or vote for Bush and hope he lives. It was a reference to most people around where I lived believed Bensen the most qualified and Dukakis the least qualified.

Re: For Non Democrats Only: Who Would You Like To See Win The 2016 Republican Primar

Jon Huntsman would be my top choice.

Brian Sandoval, Rob Portman, Mitch Daniels, Susana Martinez, Bob Corker, Lamar Alexander, and Chris Christie are people I'd be happy with.

The others I might end up voting for possibly, though not Cruz, but I wouldn't be particularly happy with them.

Re: For Non Democrats Only: Who Would You Like To See Win The 2016 Republican Primar

I couldn't help but notice only one total whacko on the list. Where's Palin? Bauchmann?

Does Cruz wear eye-liner? I wonder if he wears ladie's clothing in his off time?

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm just wondering.

You're speaking about whackos but asking about Bachman? Ironic. That same lady who claimed she was Tea party leader but really wasn't...and got hit by the backlash. Bachman learned...hijacking the Tea Party doesn't work....

Yeah, that's true. But it hardly seems fair to put Cruz out there all by himself as the stand alone whacko.

When will the GOP learn that being hijacked by the Tea Party won't work either?

I'm not a Republican, but I plan to vote Republican in 2016 so long as they field a decent candidate. To secure my vote, that candidate will have to (In no particular order):

A. Have a little swagger (not stiff like Romney was),
B. show competency on foreign policy matters (why I'm not voting for a libertarian),
C. Focus on economy,
D. stay away from focusing on controversial social issues
E. Show core leadership skill/credentials
F. Promise to roll back big Federal government
G. Not have a Bush surname

These prerequisites go out the window if:

a. Another Clinton runs (I hate the thought of oligarchy)
b. The democratic candidate totally ignores our budget crisis.

If these conditions aren't met, then I'll probably just stay home so I can say I wasn't part of the problem.

Re: For Non Democrats Only: Who Would You Like To See Win The 2016 Republican Primar

I voted for Alan Grayson in the other poll. Since I'm independent, I could vote in both I guess. But I won't. I'll wait and see what shakes out.

if you stay home you are also not part of the solution.

You mean like an old school conservative? A REAL conservative?

I hope the GOP does run this kind of candidate because I see nothing coming from the democrat side worthy of my vote.

But it's still early yet.

The GOP doesn't have to learn. It's dying. Conservatism will replace it regardless of what it learns or doesn't.
