I'm not a Republican, but I plan to vote Republican in 2016 so long as they field a decent candidate. To secure my vote, that candidate will have to (In no particular order):

    A. Have a little swagger (not stiff like Romney was),
    B. show competency on foreign policy matters (why I'm not voting for a libertarian),
    C. Focus on economy,
    D. stay away from focusing on controversial social issues
    E. Show core leadership skill/credentials
    F. Promise to roll back big Federal government
    G. Not have a Bush surname

These prerequisites go out the window if:

    a. Another Clinton runs (I hate the thought of oligarchy)
    b. The democratic candidate totally ignores our budget crisis.

If these conditions aren't met, then I'll probably just stay home so I can say I wasn't part of the problem.

I voted for Alan Grayson in the other poll. Since I'm independent, I could vote in both I guess. But I won't. I'll wait and see what shakes out.

You mean like an old school conservative? A REAL conservative?

I hope the GOP does run this kind of candidate because I see nothing coming from the democrat side worthy of my vote.

    But it's still early yet.

The GOP doesn't have to learn. It's dying. Conservatism will replace it regardless of what it learns or doesn't.

I suppose that depends on what the definition of "conservatism" ends up as being.

Sounds to me like there's plenty of learning that needs to be done yet.

Christie preferred candidate, other very easy choices include: Rubio, Bush, Huntsman. If not Christie, would probably prefer to move to a candidate like Bush or Huntsman, but aware significant problems exist. Bush has his last name (silly reason, but important to the masses) and Jon has his problems of being a non-stellar person on the national stage. Rubio is still very young, which helps count against him.

Your "Vote or die" crap doesn't work on me. Sometimes there's no solution offered...and voting for the sake of voting is also dumb. Sometimes, not showing up for a Republican candidate is a more powerful message to the party than showing up.

I don't have a vote, but I participated in the poll anyway because the choice America makes affects more than just America - hopefully, America has had it's fill of a celebrity spokesmodel as leader now and you'll pick someone who actually has run something successfully before - I prefer Jeb Bush over Chris Christie, but either would be miles better than the person taking up space in the Oval Office now.
