Your poll isn't showing?

I don't find Halloween to be offensive at all. I can't even really think as to why someone WOULD be offended.

I am offended that you would ask this question Agent J.

I actually would have never thought to ask these two questions until reading some random comments here but ill save my comments for post 2 in the threads.
The other question is, Do you let your kids trick or treat at Strangers houses? http://www.debatepolitics.com/off-t...t-your-kids-trick-treat-strangers-houses.html

like my other question this is another thing i have never thought of ever?
SOme one said the believe it or not many religious people find it offensive, again VERY GREEK TO ME.

Heck the Halloween parade in my town was sponsored and organized by one of the churches(christian) for years, school district and municipality does it now because the church tried to limit some floats/costumes/participants.

But they were the sponsor and in my neighborhood there was a priest and a pastor and typically they gave out some of the best stuff!

SO does anybody really find Halloween offensive?

I mean at this point 2013 Easter, Halloween, Christmas have about ZERO to do with religion or anything else unless an individual chooses to practice that way by as far as society is concern they are mostly just holidays..

Im offended that you are offended i would ask this question, quite frankly you are being defensive and there's no need! :nahnah:

Halloween, no. Kids coming to my door without a costume looking for candy, very much so.

No. I'm kind of racking my brain trying to come up with something that people could find offensive about Halloween. Can't come up with anything.

Extremely! All those pumpkins mutilated in most horrible ways, just for entertainment. Cruelty to vegetables on such ostentatious display.

"Strangers" - all this tells me is that people don't know anyone in their community these days. Everyone keeps to their selves too much. When the trick-or-treat concept of Halloween became more popular people *did* know a lot of individuals in town and they could be trusted.

While i agree thats not always true, i know everybody in my immediate neighborhood and being involved in coaching and youth programs many outside of it but in some areas its just not possible to know everybody.

But again in general i do agree the old school sense of neighborhood/community has dropped off.

I think its sad some people have never experienced that.

Halloween was hella fun this year.

Halloween takes place on one of my sacred holidays. People dressing up just adds to its unique flavor, though it's not something I partake in.

Yes my children trick or treat at strangers' homes and no I do not find Halloween offensive. Annoying now that I am the candy giver outer, but not offensive.

i dont find it offensive i just find the whole concept of kids coming up to our doors it death costumes black mailing us into giving them free candy funny

There is some of that, but also there are things like my kids went trickstering with their cousins in their hood, not ours, for a little while before they went to a church thing with the cousins.

Personally, I wish it were moved to the last Saturday in October as opposed to the 31st always because it is really time consuming for working parents to have to do all that crap, worry about dinner, etc. I think that is the reason a lot of people just don't seem to give out candy anymore--too much of a hassle on weekdays.

Some people feel it glorifies evil.

Not offensive at all and when my kids were small, no to strangers houses either. Now my kids take their kids to where they work for all the Halloween party and treats. But I always have a lot of candy and stuff for the grandkids when they drop by, either on Halloween or after.

Not offensive, just annoying as hell.
