No...He's a brute. He's an offensive lineman that bangs his body into other brutes on a daily basis for good money and for the entertainment of fans everywhere. He is just what he is.

Tell me...do you think this sort of stuff doesnt go on on soccer pitches around the globe? Do you think they dont use racist names, slurs, and attack every essence of who you are? This isnt ****ing kindergarten. They arent saints and they arent monsters. They are grown ass men playing a brutal sport.

Do I think that players on soccer teams regularly use racist terms against one of their teammates, threaten to kill him, threaten to defecate in his mounh, threaten to assault his mother and gang rape his sister? No, I don't. However, if you have some examples of this please link to them. This is unique to the thug mentality that some - repeat some - NFL teams allow to flourish. This racist goon was given a position of leadership in Miami by people who apparently couldn't offer leadership themselves. This is a thug who was kicked out of not one college, but two, and who was kicked off the first NFL team he played for. Apparently none of that bothered the people in Miami.

He's a disgusting pig. People are only defending probably because he's a good player, but that doesn't make him a good person, that's for sure.

think about it
it will dawn on you

we'll know when we see the smoke

A reference to another poster perhaps? Who knows with gipper?

Lets stick to the vulgar and racist comments. I think we can all agree the comments about the sister were over the top. Then again...not really. I guaranTEE you, comments like that are made on the field by people ALL THE TIME trying to get under peoples skin.

Now...racist UK soccer fans? What are the odds....

I think the NFL needs to raise it's standards a bit when it comes to player's behaviors. That video of his rant was pretty pathetic. He is NOT a good representative of the team. I would think you would act like that towards your opponents but not your own team mates.

Yeah, it's mildly funny that anyone has the nerve to suggest that racist remarks don't happen in soccer. Wasn't all that long ago that a dude in one of those UEFA league teams got sidelined for blatant racist remarks.

And let's not forget the crowds...
I heard that in that world pooh doesnt stink either.

And yet...his teammates are his most vocal supporters.

And this has what exactly to do with players attacking teammates? Perhaps we could expect slightly better from somebody who's on your team, as opposed to fans, which are as a group generally stupid.

He should feel embarrassed, and so should his teammates IMO.

Hardly surprising. When there's no real leadership, it is left to the loudest and the meanest to take charge. I'd offer that having his teammates defend his conduct speaks volumes about the culture of that locker room.

Go back and read the Cam Cleland piece from earlier in this forum. Proof that its possible to play this 'violent' game without becoming a mindless, racist thug.

But at least there is no problem with anti-gay rhetoric...

Homophobia in football: Why do gay Premier League players feel they can't come out? | Metro News

I could do this all day...but wont. Look...no one is claiming Richie Incognito is anything other than what he is. Its not smaller than what it is, but its also not bigger than what it is. It is what it is.

Why do you continue to compare the behavior of fans with that of teammates? How is that in any way comparable?

Definitely. The coaching staff is definitely partly to blame.

I think you have to be a man to understand.

Men like to handle problems internally. If you have a beef with a dude, you settle it with that dude. You don't go and tell the world - and the media. That's a capital offense in an NFL locker room.

Women tattle. Women go to HR. Women air their grievences to everyone else. Martin did a bitch move.

Yeah, normally it isn't with their own teammate, however. I know football players as a rule aren't the brightest bulbs in the chandelier, but ruining the life of a guy who is on your side is particularly dumb. Of course, he's educated and that probably counts against him.

You do understand this was their teammate, right?

Of course I do understand that. To play football at the NFL level you cant be stupid either. The line calls and defense reads and pickups are insanely complicated. Just in case you don't think linemen have to be at least above average intelligence, here's a book you might want to peruse its called Amazon.com: Take Your Eye Off the Ball: How to Watch Football by Knowing Where to Look eBook: Pat Kirwan, David Seigerman, Pete Carroll, Bill Cowher: Books, I thought I knew quite a bit about football, this gave me more to flesh my knowledge out. From what I understand right now its a he said he said situation. Sounds like Martin got ridden pretty hard, and Ingconito was supposedly supposed to toughen the man up because the coaching staff thought the guy was timid. It also sounds like they were friends and had a falling out. Quite frankly this being the NFL and all these are grown ass men and what they do to each other is their business and between themselves. Its a violent sport loaded with type A personalities, there aint much you can do to change that. If Martin didn't like the way he was treated he had the option of leaving, which he took. Maybe he can get hooked up with another team. I doubt it but you never know.

I am beginning to see that's exactly what happened. I guess the women's movement finally made to the locker room in the NFL. They have begun the neutering process. I wonder how long the NFL will last.

Again...NO ONE is suggesting everyone is that way. By some reports not every team tolerates it. Some do. Some element of this exists at every level. There is nothing shocking, surprising, or new. As I have said...anyone that has ANY exposure to this game that is now expressing mock outrage is simply a joke. Read some of the history of the game and you will see it is and has always been prevalent.

You know what they say about apples and where they tend to fall...

On 15 October 2011, Luis Suárez was accused of racially abusing Patrice Evra,[110] and the English Football Association opened up an investigation into the incident.[110] On 16 November, the FA announced they would be charging Suárez, while his club, Liverpool, announced support for their player.[111] On 20 December, the FA concluded a seven-day hearing and fined Suárez £40,000 fine and banned him for eight matches for racially abusing Evra.[112] Suárez had used the word "negrito" towards Evra meaning "little black man" in Spanish. The term is used in South America as a term of endearment and not an insult.[113]

On 23 October 2011, in a match between QPR and Chelsea, Anton Ferdinand alleged racial abuse by Chelsea captain, John Terry, claiming Terry called him a "****ing black ****" during the game; a claim denied by Terry.[114] On 1 November, the Metropolitan Police announced a formal investigation into the allegations.[115] In January 2012 Ferdinand received death threats and a bullet sent through the post.[116] On 1 February 2012 at Westminster Magistrates Court, Terry was accused of a racially-aggravated public order offence in relation to the game at Loftus Road on 23 October. He entered a not-guilty plea and stood trial on 9 July.[117] On 13 July, after a four-day trial, Terry was acquitted.[118] In July, following the court hearing Terry was charged by the Football Association with "using abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Ferdinand and which included a reference to colour and/or race contrary to FA Rule E3[2]". In September 2012, after a four day hearing, he was found guilty, banned for four games and fined £220,000.[119] Evidence in his defence at Terry's trial had been given by his team-mate, Ashley Cole. Anton Ferdinand's brother Rio later referred to Cole via Twitter as a "choc ice" meaning someone who is black on the outside but white on the inside.

On 29 May 2012 the BBC reported that Swindon Town had conceded, in a response to a solicitor's letter from Jonathan Tehoue, that manager Paolo Di Canio, a self-described fascist, had made an inappropriate remark to the player which Tehoue deemed to be racist.

Just a sampling...

As I said...I played the game for over 25 years in the states and with club players around Woodbridge and Ipswitch. Cuban players do it. Brazilian players do it. British players do it. American players do it. All? Of course not. A lot? You bet. Usually...its trash talk...a way to get someone off their game, get them thinking more about the player than the next play.
