    If it was just me and I had no one to support or worry about, then yeah, I would quit my job and spend my time on the beach enjoying the waves.

    I didn't actually think of that. Since the situation in the OP makes no reference to people living together being treated differently it would be reasonable to assume that each individual would be guaranteed $25,000

    The mean income in the US is 47K and it is household income. Mean and average are synonyms. I said nothing about median.
