Which US Ally is the Most Untrustworthy?

As the world's only "super-power", I do not think we really have any "allies".
Perhaps Israel....

Afghanistan: Afghanistan is a place with no real government or control of it's people. It's basically the wild west of the modern age. You can do whatever you want and there's a good chance you'll get away with it. Our enemies combined with the radical clerics provide that the fighting will never end in Afghanistan (even after we leave). I don't think we can trust them for anything.

Pakistan: Is more of a threat because their state sponsors terrorism such as Hezbollah. They harbored Bin Laden for years. The even have cut off our supply lines for political squabbles in the past. I would say Pakistan out of any on this list is the most untrustworthy and the most likely to stab us in the back.
Egypt:

Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia turns out to be a good ally....mostly because we need fuel, they have fuel, and they understand they can make a killer profit off of us by just being friends with us. Secondly the Arabic world has been feuding with the Persian world (like Iran) for centuries. Most of the countries we are against have been Persian...so we're actually helping them. I think we can marginally trust them.

Iraq: Iraq is a shell of it's former self. It'll take decades for it to get it's act together. Other than sharp edged words they don't have anything to hurt us with. It's not that I wouldn't trust them, it's more that I wouldn't bother asking them, because their troops are incompetent. The radical clerics are present here too.

Israel: Israel is one of our greatest allies and I'd say we can greatly trust them. However make no mistake that Israel knows how to manipulate us. Anything they say should be taken with a grain of salt.

France: Who listens to France anyways? They're the butt of more jokes than not. I see them about as harmless as a penny in a pond.

South Korea: South Korea is a good ally because they need us. Without us the North would annihilate them. So we can trust them because we have them under threat. If they piss us off enough we'll leave and they can deal with the little Kim.

Considering the complete failure of leadership, the magical vanishing redlines, bluster, arrogance, spying, etc...I would say presuming that any of our ALLIES might be untrustworthy would be rather...hypocritical?

What?

Of course the NK military is far superior than ours even though their defense budget is less than 10% of ours, that's for sure

They have numbers and discipline. Their equipment is all post soviet from the cold war. However like the Japanese in WW2 they are brainwashed to the point where they will fight to the death...all because they we're told to. Numbers matter. For example the US military is the strongest in the world ranging in at 313,847,465 personnel (2012) but China who has outdated equipment and recently embarrassed themselves with a copy of the F-35 Lightning that couldn't even fly....has 1,344,130,00 (2012) members of the military. You read that right...1 billion. Stalin's grand plan to defeat Hitler was to throw his forces at Hitler's, no retreat, no quarter, no taking of prisoners, and Stalin won the Eastern Front. The battle of Stalingrad is a classic example where soviet forces just kept sending more and more men until the Germans starved and then we're weak...and then they pulled off a pintzer movement and defeating them. So there's definitely strength in numbers.

I think Saudi Arabia is the shadiest mother****er in that bunch.

I don't know, I've always found that when friends argue, they have a disagreement, they'll fight, they hash it out, and they'll either resolve the issue or agree to disagree. But what happen with that bust? That was a slight. Now when you slight someone, when someone truly feels slighted -- that SOB is gonna hate you til the day he dies.

Is this gonna affect relations in a major way? No. Will they be long lasting? No, once Obama is out it will be over as far as foreign relations are concerned. But to think that that act didn't have any impact, any meaning, is to not understand diplomatic relations. Where EVERY move has some sort of meaning and significance.

Again, luckily leaders on both sides of the ocean are more mature and smarter than that. No one in the UK is looking at Churchill's bust as a "sign" or "indicator" of anything, don't be silly

Which US Ally is the Most Untrustworthy?

President Barack Obama.

At the end of the day, it is just fun watching Australians fight.

It is also fun to see how you and Graffias have such similar world views.

Really? Funny how I have not expressed a world view in this thread, beyond enjoying watching Australians fight. I did vote in the poll, but never stated my reasons, which I bet you are painfully ignorant of. I did know it would get an unreasoned attack from you however. It is fun watching people who have a worldview based entirely on emotion react to things.

You didn't need to state your reasons.

They are predictable and obvious.

And I bet you don't know what they are in the least. Why don't you explain them since you are so sure of yourself. You will be wrong, but I need a good laugh, beyond what you have already given me.

Hey,I'm always up up for a good surprise. In other comments you have indicated your degree of hatred for the Jewish state, so perhaps you can come up with something inventive and plausible as to why.

Wait, so now you don't know my motives? Can you get your story straight please.

I didn't say I didn't know.

I said you are quite welcome to make good on your allegation by trying to come up with something I didn't know to provide the basis for your oft stated hatred for the Jewish state.

Do you have anything to offer that isn't an Elders of Zion style argument?

And yet you continue to dodge. What do you think you know? You claimed to know my motivations, so it is time to put up. We both know you got in over your head here, you can admit it, or try and actually back up your claim. Which is it?

You can't come up with any reasons that don't follow all the traditional themes that involve undue influence, working behind the scenes and manipulation, can you? You need say no more by way of confirming my original statement.

I suppose I could always ask Graffias, with whom you share this view.

Why do we feel we deserve the respect of other nations when we don't respect them back? NSA ruined that for us.

Undue influence? No, don't think so. Working behind the scenes? Are you referring to conspiracy crap? If so, nope. Manipulation? Not even remotely. So what we have seen is you don't know what you are talking about in the least. Hint: The poll question is what I answered, not some other crap unrelated to it.

I see.

So you simply hate the Jewish state because it is a liberal oasis in a sea of knuckle-dragging backwardness, then. Or is it because they are a worldwide center of research and development in various environmentally sound technologies? I suppose your hatred could also spring from the fact that the Mullahs hate them and so you, should too.

I shouldn't discount the possibility, either, that you simply hate them because that's what the illiberal portion of the left is required to do in order to earn proper cred.

I answered Israel, not the Jewish state. See, this is where your disconnect comes in. I am answering in how much the country of Israel is as a trustworthy ally. All the nonsense you believe because you react emotionally on the topic of Israel is your problem and nothing to do with me or my beliefs. So you might want to stop assuming things and looking silly.

That you believe the state of Israel is less trustworthy than those of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. is laughable on its own, but that you really think that Gardener - who is sharing what? 5 years with you on this site? - wouldn't know what your opinions regarding Israel are by now, and would have to throw guesses around to figure it, is simply ridiculous.

In each of those cases, through aide we have bought a certain level of influence. Not so with Israel, who takes the aide and does as they please.

And you will note that Gardener was entirely wrong in his explanation of why he thought I chose Israel. So apparently he does not know my opinions. This is entirely predictable due to how Gardener views things in regards to Israel. He does not realize that you can oppose Israel's actions and not be anti-Semitic.

So, you think Israel is not the Jewish state? That makes as much sense as saying France is not the French state or Japan is not the Japanese state.

The truth of the matter is that you and Graffias both chose Israel as being the least trustworthy ally -- less trustworthy than Pakistan, which harbored Bin Laden, Saudi Arabia that funds virulently anti American Madrassas and any of a number of other sensible choices -- and you did so because of some similarities in your ideologies. You are unwilling to state why, and after seeing you express your hatred for the Jewish state countless times, I have come to expect this. Like I said, you are obvious and predictable.

Sheesh. Asking the illiberal portion of the hard left why they hate the Jewish state is like asking the bible-thumping fundy portion of the hard right why they hate gay people. It is a matter of unshakable faith in both cases, long on lock-step conformity, long on hatred, but very, very short on reason. The mere fact you are unable to come up with a reason for your hatred tells us all we need to know.
