In my opinion, people may be under the false impression that Clinton was responsible for the growth of the 90's. My solid opinion is he was simply in the right place at the right time. There was a paradigm shift in the semiconductor industry along with the Y2K scare and internet Al Gore invented. With a republican congress, Clinton could only do little harm in the way of trade agreements.

NAFTA had a whole lot more republican votes than democratic one. But the economy is like the weather. No president or government can control the economy. If they could we would always be in an upswing cycle.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Not exactly a worthwhile theory, considering she expressed no interest in serving a second term as far back as early 2011.

I was actually OK with NAFTA because it would help our immediate neighbor and I had hoped it would reduce or stop illegal immigration. Then the other trade agreements followed, and undercut the purpose of NAFTA.

I agree, republicans are at fault too. In the same token, those wanting to praise Cli9nton should remember that it takes both congress and a president to make these bills become law.

A liar, erhm, I mean lawyer? I think we've had enough of that. How about someone who isn't a career politician?

Screw that. Outsiders suck. Even socialists can recognize the foolishness of that, and they have a damn long history of having their heads up their collective bums in terms of what gets revolution going.

Because the non-outsiders have done so well.

They have, actually. Even those more among the periphery have historically become institutionalized (I'm thinking the Whiz Kids of the Kennedy years) and have moderated their high hopes.
