Need to make a correction, doubled up on a state and left North Dakota off, good catch Fiddytree!
I doubled up on Kentucky, they actually have a court case in the works.
heres the current picture
14 states and DC have equal rights:
18 more are in various stages of fighting or establishing a fight for equal rights
New Mexico – is granting equal rights for now and the SSC is going to decided on this soon
Court Case(s) in the works to establish equal rights:
Court Case(s) and Legislation in the works, which ever wins first:
Legislation in the works:
thats makes 32 that have or are in the possible progress to have equal rights
This leaves 18 that are still discriminating and have nothing currently in the works
Gay Marriage, Civil unions and domestic partnerships banned
Gay Marriage and Civil unions banned
Gay Marriage Banned
Gay Marriage Not legal
* states among the last to allow interracial marriage
^ states among the last to allow women to vote
# states among the last to end slavery
I half-wonder if some states will NEVER legalize it.
But then, I suppose they would technically be the last...
