Obviously, Max, you are not "most people", but "superior".
So then, what would you have done back in 1938 ?
Don't forget about the power of propaganda; we have some of this (radio extremists), Germany had a ton , I think, everywhere...
A little-known fact.
This is true, but it is also the easy answer. This also sidesteps the fact that many people today place blame on those who did nothing to stop it.
Would've depended on my family. In this reality, I'm of mixed descent; I can pass for white, but a lot of my family can't. If me and my family existed in 1930's Germany, I'd be trying to get my family out of there as quickly as possible-- unless one of my close kin gets killed, in which get case I get myself killed seeking revenge. If me and my family were lily-white standard-issue Deutschevolk, I'd probably go along to get along or even participate enthusiastically in order to get ahead. Being honest with myself, I probably would have gone along with a number of atrocities; I'm not burdened by an overabundance of conscience and even today I consider Nazism the lesser evil compared to the Soviets and international socialism.
In the end, though, I'd have probably ended up being executed anyway-- either for resisting the regime or being a part of it, or simply for coming down on the wrong side of some infighting. I just don't have the good sense to know when to keep my head down and my mouth shut.
I wish we had met July 18th when I came to Cheyenne looking to for something to do. I was on my motorycle and saw the big locomotive while hitting a few bars. Just did not find anything to keep us there very long so we headed back to Fort Collins as the eye candy and bars are plentiful there.
Wow. That's an interesting perspective on the 2nd Amendment. I've never heard that.I'm Jewish I would have also Left as my Grandparents fled Russia's pogroms around the time of the Revolution .
And the OP is one of the main reasons I support the Second Amendment.
If Every Jewish arrest/round up had taken a Nazi or two, it would have cost them grievously.
Drop me a line next time you're passing through.
Most of the Jews I have known did or their parents had.
