Do you think he could have delayed monies Obama wanted for overseas? Like always holding it for the last second before releasing?

I think he didn't show the leadership that was needed. That he underestimated the Democrats and how they would proceed. Believing they wanted to work things out in any bipartisan way.

Boehner really doesn't want to stall the progress of the economy.
He's being forced to.

Boehner may be in a situation where he had no winning option.

Boehner should be replaced by a Republican who can control his damned party. The tea party radicals are damaging the brand and need to be brought back into line. There needs to be punishments for lunatics who put fanaticism and self promotion ahead of the good of the party.

John Boener should be put in jail with the rest of the Teaaliban traitors. Pretty simple America is finally seeing what the rest of us saw years ago. They are not Christians they more or less are just like the Nazi's. I say ****em all

Heh. I'm assuming you said this about 8 years ago about Bush, but switched out the names to make it sound topical.

Nope there are more than a few on both sides that should be in jail over the Iraq war! Namely Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, Powell, Rice, Pelosi, Reid, any intelligence committee members. Especcially if they knew about the torture that was going on. But you are making an assumption that you cannot back up.

Boehner is the SOTH.... How does someone "force" him? He can only be forced if he is weak.

The tail is wagging the dog because the dog is afraid of his tail.

Your statement, preceding my inability to back up my assumption:

Namely Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, Powell, Rice, Pelosi, Reid, any intelligence committee members.

Yeah, my assumption is totally unfounded.

Odd....

Forced? FORCED??? You mean conservatives are "forcing" Boehner to shut down the government and ramming their tea party principles down his throat?

I guess thats what conservatives call...freedom. "Either yer with us or aginst us."

Did those people know about the torture, they have admitted as much torture is illegal they are war criminals. The justification for war with Iraq has never been proven so there are plenty of people that need to be in jail or much worse.

I like your wit Moot. I've been taking it in the shorts from Con Mods lately about my "us vs. them" stuff. What has it always been like around here. I started at Politico in 2010 after retiring from Chem/physics teaching. Senate elections are my favorite and we have another great Group of Ladies in 2014.

You're not helping yourself any.

Btw, forget the MSM noise that Dems can't gain in the House. Just today, Bachmann-MN, S.King-IA, Gohmert-TX, Stutsman-AR and especially Neugebrauer-TX stepped in their own feces. That's 5 House members just today. And we have 13 more months of this. Politico has great "independent" articles on these TEAkooks. I'm actually glad in a way as long as the innocent aren't getting hurt. These piecemeals bills are killing the Repubs in PR and Cantor and Ryan are the real forces stabbing Boehner.

Boehner is violating his oath of office to uphold the constitution....of course he should be removed as should every congressman who voted to shut down the government and hold it for ransom.

"....The Constitution defines the authority of each branch of government. The first two powers it lists for Congress specify that it collects taxes, pays bills and borrows money when necessary. Putting them at the top of the list means the founding fathers gave them high priority.

By threatening a government shutdown and default, Republicans in Congress are saying they will not perform the job given Congress in the Constitution....read...."

So someone worse can replace him? Sounds wonderful.

Beohner was almost ousted last January by his own party. And now with so many moderate republicans thinking the shut down was a bad plan from the get go....he could be replaced by a moderate...or not. Hard to say, it might all depend on how this shut down turns out...because if it hurts republicans then the repub moderates will oust him for sure....but if it doesn't then he's their hero and he keeps his job and becomes more embolden to hold the country for ransom again...and again...and again...until the country becomes a banana republic.

That's very optimistic of you. Call me cynical, but they've done some stupid stuff that's hurt them before, and then they turn around and pat themselves on the back for it. Point is, I'm worried Ted Cruz, or someone like him will replace Beohner.

The shut down WILL hurt Republicans but I doubt a moderate will replace him. The "sane" Republicans have a gun to their heads in the form of "primary threats" There is big money behind the T's and they will use it to threaten to oust any opposition as RINOS. There has already been quite a purge so the threat is quite credible. It really is just more collateral damage from the soft money ruling by the Supreme court that certain billionaires are using to hold the entire country hostage. In effect thay have purchased the entire GOP for a few 100 million $. It is truly a sad day for our Democracy.

I hope you're right.

There are signs that moderate republicans might organize themselves and fight back. I think they're getting tired of being called "RINO's" and purged from their own party. They might not have a choice not to organize if they want remain relevant. Here's whats in going in my state which as you know is probably the reddest state in the union.....

Robert Bennett: Considerations on 'Count My Vote' | Deseret News

It's gaining traction and as more republicans become disenfranchised....well, we'll see.
