Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

As of today, nothing. My wife and I have insurance through employment. I haven't even read up on how it works.

Should our situation change, then we'll have to do a crash course and make a choice.

Ah but is it AFFORDABLE coverage???? If you pay more than 9.5% of your pay for HC, then your plan is illegal and you
can get better coverage on the exchanges...........

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

Since the ACA was signed into law, my contribution to my health insurance has tripled while my benefits have fallen. However, if I signed up for the ACA, I'd pay more than double what I'm paying now.

Fat lot of good that did us. That's why we need to repeal and replace. Now.

The rates went up becasue of CEO care. Obamcare is NOT LAW YET. Jan 1 -2014 it is.

When you sign up for the ACA you will pay $30 to $100 month for insurance............

Only thing needing replacement is all your lies.

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

$30 to $100? Um, no. That's what you can get NOW for a high-deductible plan. The average rate now:

The weighted average lowest monthly premiums for a 27-year-old in 36 states[14] will be (before tax credits): $129 for a catastrophic plan, $163 for a bronze plan, and $203 for a silver plan.

aspe.hhs.gov/health/reports/2013/MarketplacePremiums/ib_marketplace_premiums.cfm

Now these rates are lower than EXPECTED, but higher than what people pay now, and the savings came mainly from creating much smaller networks.

Also, bad form to accuse another poster of lying. Even if you're positive of your facts vs. his, people generally don't go on posting boards to lie. What good does it do? We're not politicians, we're just people standing around a virtual water cooler discussing the issues of the day.

Based on the pics, it doesn't look like they are doing so bad.

Do you still get to call yourself a socialist after you turn 21 and are living off your rich parents, though? Inquiring minds want to know.

Isn't that the definition of a socialist... somebody else pays for everything?

i have kaiser but i am going to talk to them to see if i can get my business ins lowered i have 4 employees .but with little studying i think if i was just getting ins for my business i might be able to get it lower with obamacare ...gonna call my ins co

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

My wife and I both have qualifying insurance through our jobs, so we don't intend to change anything.

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

I currently have no insurance and I will not be participating in the ACA nor paying my fine. I will pay my taxes just as I always have but will skip the additional ACA fine. I refuse to participate purely on principle and if they want to jail me for a small fine then that is their choice but I think it a foolish one. A few days in jail would cost the government much more then my measly fine would gain them.

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

I will not participate in a train wreck that will destroy this great nation. I will pay out of pocket.
all this train wreck will do is put us on the same path that is bankrupting all those socialist nations.
I will refuse to pay the fine/tax and hope to be the first to get thrown in jail refusing to do so

interesting..... I wonder why the repubs are fighting it so bad ...myself I would let it go into affect, then wath it self destruct and let the repubs get the house and senate in 2014 just a thought

Medicaid for me, though it begins later in this state. Don't have parent's insurance as an option and not eligible for subsidies.

That's my own view as well, although individuals have every right to engage in civil disobedience against the law. Any law that can't survive a little civil disobedience shouldn't exist.

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

To be fair, even if no such thing as the ACA or Obamacare existed, he'd most likely still be covered under his parents insurance until he's 24 (still in school). That's not unusual at all. That Obamacare increases it until 26 is actually one of the better things in the otherwise seriously flawed bill.

I would like to correct something.

I have a family member that is autistic but not disabled enough to get assistance because of it . He is taking college very slowly because he has to. Without ACA he would not be covered because he would not achieve the proper number of college units to stay on the parents health care plan. On top of that a pre-existing condition would screw him over for private insurance.

So coverage on a parents plan is not a foregone conclusion.

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

so what is Obama going to do next start penalizing companies that hire or put people on part time what do you think will happen after that companies will just stop hiring period

You getting your information from the loading dock foreman?

Hasta la vista, GOP. Looking forward to your next incarnation.

Insured through my employer and while the cost has increased significantly over the past few years and benefits it's still better than what many have and well above the ACA minimums.

So I'm staying put.

Under normal circumstances perhaps, however Autism according to the National Autism Association and the CDC is considered a disability.
Autism Fact Sheet - National Autism Association

There are state laws that govern autism so depending on what state your family member resides, there still may be coverage available.
Autism and Insurance Coverage State Laws

The chances are much higher there is some type of coverage available for those with autism than not.

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

Maggie I am so sorry to hear you have fallen for the lies of Obama care. Remember what Pelosi said, pass the bill and read it later.

She didn't say that. One lie after another from the right.

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

thanks for making every one else pays more for you to get health care. freeloader. you don't give a rats ass that some middle class family of four will pay more so you can get yours do you. why don't you sell that computer you own and go out and get your own dam plan but you rather have someone else pay for it wouldn't you

You do realize that the insurance plan under which he is covered has premiums that are paid NOT BY YOU, right?

Re: What will you do now that the ACA sign up has started?

and neither of them have employee provided health insurance? or did there company or firm they work for dropped their coverage or there private insurance was dropped like thousand of other Americans and forced onto the exchanges , I know they must have had insurance before Obama care so what happened

Do you even read people's posts before spouting off nonsense?

I'm a Veteran and will just continue with veteran's healthcare benefits. Great system.

I have many friends from college who are military or ex-military, and the veterans' benefit package is superb, from what they've told me. I don't know any who are going to get on the exchanges, simply because they don't need to.

That's interesting you say that. I cannot think of a single veteran buddy of mine who does not have a list of complaints against the VA the size of your arm.

I will be changing jobs in the near future. If the new job offers insurance, we'll go with that. If not, we'll have to buy our own.

the reality is the VA is real slow and fights each individual service man claims. Most of the time anyway. I belong to a group called the Long Binh Vets which tries to help those who served in Vietnam get their proper benefits from the VA. There are some of us who have been fighting and waiting for ten years.
