I think one of many misconceptions people have is just because you're under 26 and remain on your parent's group plan, you're not getting "free" health insurance. What's happening is your parents continue to pay more to have you and your sister on their insurance under more expensive family plans. Because of this, other people with your family's provider are paying less.

PS. I'm of the opinion many if not most people who are against Obamacare are really just against Obama.

PPS. I don't like a lot of how the ACA is structured but its an improvement over 30 million people with no health coverage who inevitably will show up at the ER to get treated for free, the costs of which will be passed on to the insured at the most expensive place to get medical treatment and often after their condition has progressed where their quality of life has greatly diminished and the cost to treat them is through the roof.

I have a buddy who never had a job that offered insurance, working in outside sales. He probably hadn't had a regular doctor visit since his last high school physical in 12th grade. 15 years later he gets rushed to the ER (without insurance) after passing out. Turned out he had advance stages of type 2 diabetes that could have been easily and inexpensively treated if he had an affordable policy the HE paid the for that allowed him to see the doctor every year. Today he can no longer work, is 70% blind, has an amputated leg and lives at an assisted living home all at taxpayer expense.

All those changes were made to bring our insurance in compliance with the ACA. We had to add all those "free" well visits. So, that meant cutting back on copays and the deductible while raising the employee AND employer contribution.

The ACA failed. It failed miserably and it isn't even in full effect yet.

you were paying $320 month for fake insurance.

Now its real insurance and your rich, so screw you pay the $658 with no subsidy. I get the same thing for $30 month.

That is what everyone should say. The best part is they claim they aren't forcing people to buy insurance. Right, right, you mean other than fining them if they don't comply. Other than doing everything in their power to make others do as they desire nothing is going on.

I'm keeping my insurance. ACA is for ideologues and suckers.

Since you have insurance that you like, ACA doesn't want you either.

Please do go on about how I should want inferior healthcare that couldn't possibly measure up to what I already have? It's a sub par product churned out by the government; you'd be in better hands under an HMO.

Insurance is real if the customer is happy with it. The government added a ton of mandates on insurers, most of them politically motivated rather than in the interests of people's actual needs.

Actually, it's not a fine or penalty, it's just a tax. A tax which is uncollectable, according to the law. So no, you don't actually have to pay it. All the IRS can do is send you nasty letters that threaten very serious nasty letters in the future.

Insurance is real if it exists.
