What would be great would be treating the position of Speaker of the House a the leader of the whole body of the House and not as some sort Majority SUPER-Leader. (Sort of superior to the Majority Leader)

That ship sailed a long time ago.

That ship sailed a long time ago.

It did and if how the Speaker of the House is being treated or thought of is a problem then maybe it is time to have that ship return to port. Otherwise I do not care what opinions of people have of the Speakers of the House and the members of the House that share his Party membership when they are not agreeing to get along with the members of the other Party.

Absolutely. He's consistently been forced into battles despite clear disadvantages by a chunk of his party with no political savvy whatsoever. It's a tough situation that I don't envy in the least.

Maybe the Speaker of the House is being treated as a "problem" is because he can't control his own caucus.

Kevin McCarthy is the GOP whip, the guy designated to keep the caucus in line, and he reports directly to Cantor. Cantor's knife is so far into Boehner's back it's virtually coming out of his chest.

Only when he cries.

No sympathy whatsoever from me. He chose to side with the Democrats and his party has walked away from him. He should be happy they didn't toss his ass out in the dumpster for failing to live up to his leadership position.

Because he has a thankless job. His own party disrespects him.

In that case, no. He gets paid 200k a year plus benefits and a great amount of power. People disliking you is the price you pay for trying to be a dictator.

Feel sorry for him for what? If I feel sorry for anyone, it's the American people. Most of our leaders and representatives are incompetent and money grubbing scum IMO.

Don't feel sorry for the American people. It's those idiots who keep sending these people to Congress and refusing to hold them responsible for their actions and/or inactions.

Yeah, but they lie. All of them lie.

How? On nearly every issue he has to accommodate the Tea Party or else they throw a fit. If he does, he looks like a weak leader that bows to radicals. If he approaches the Democrats to reach a compromise, he's declared a turncoat. He barely got reinstated as Speaker of the House this year. And yet he has to stand in front of press conferences every time and act like he likes it.

Accommodate the Tea Party? You say that like it is a bad thing....

And what is bad about the tea party?

Condescension, egotism, extreme nationalism, greed, hate, historical revisionism, homophobia, hyperpartisanship, hypocrisy, hysteria, immaturity, intransigence, mendacity, obstructionism, racism, religious intolerance, self-righteousness, sexism, stupidity, xenophobia... did I miss anything?

Let's see how many of those actually are describing the Democrats:

Condescension, egotism, greed, hate, historical revisionism, hyperpartisanship, hypocrisy, hysteria, immaturity, intransigence, mendacity, obstructionism, racism, religious intolerance, self-righteousness, sexism, stupidity, xenophobia...

And what does NOT describe the Tea Part: homophobia, condescension, egotism, greed, hate, hysteria, immaturity, racism, religious intolerance, stupidity, sexism, etc.....

The Speaker of the House should not be one to control anything but oversee that the house follows its rules. The speaker of the House is not a Prime Minister which would be expected to control his "caucus". The Speaker of the House was intended not to be a partisan. Both Parties have a Leader and a Whip and currently the existing Speaker is not in the mainstream of the Republican Party. Boehner is a rule keeper; he doesn't have a roll in keeping his party on a particular focus.

Yes, and actually, according to the rules the Speaker doesn't even have to be a member of congress.
