    Is rush limbaugh serious?

Do you think Rush Limbaugh believes in what he says or he just fakes believing in what he says for the money?

I think he truly is conservative...but he probably exaggerates his beliefs a bit for money. Saying outrageous things boosts his ratings.

    Same with Ann Coulter.

Right-wing/Left-Wing....these guys/women all try to be outrageous to get ratings. The scary thing is that despite the fact that they know that they are being outrageous, there are actually people on both sides of the spectrum that take these people seriously.
The worst in my opinion are Rush, Hannity, Savage, Coulter, Franken and Rhodes. The others fall somewhere a little lower down the list. But anyone who listens to these people, unless doing so for strictly entertainment reasons....seriously needs a reality check.

I suspect that most of his type would jump on a different political horse in a heartbeat for the right kind of money...

    Re: Is rush limbaugh serious?

I think he truly believes what he does. I don't think he would've done all he did in this buisness, from the start when he wasn't making tons of $$$ to now, just for the cash. Not to mention if he became LESS controversial he could probably make more cash.

Does he believe everything he says? Depends how you're asking. If you mean some of the extreme things he says? No. But then he explains that in books, interviews, and shows. He purposefully puts out absurd and over the top comments when talking about certain topics or things that he himself things are already over the top and absurd, in an attempt to illistrate it as such. The problem is, while this may work for his audience, a few snippets of that always gets taken and portrayed as what he's actually meaning.

I'd be like me being annoyed by the huge amount of money we spend on wellfare, so I propose that we may as well just have everyone stop working, remove everyones wealth, and then dole it back out to people for the rest of the time. And since we'll have limited wealth, no one may be allowed to breed so abortions for everyone.

That's actually a good bit more extreme then he'd even probably say, but its the kind of thing he does. Its not that he believes the latter, its that he thinks the initial thing is absurd, so goes farther into absurdity to illustrate it...and people take it seriously.

With all that being said, I think he realizes first and foremost he's an entertainer. HE knows he's got to project the larger then life persona and be more than a dry political voice. Because of that, I think a lot of the arrogance and things he says at times are an attempt to entertain, instead of be serious, but he uses his political beliefs to do such

Dry political worked very well for Will Rogers. No, I wasn't there, not that old, but I did read a lot about him.
The current formula for talk radio turns me off completely. I suppose Rush and others could be presenting exactly what we need, but once they start ranting/raving/dancing/yelling like a revivalist preacher, they have lost me. I suspect that describes a lot of us. The message has to be presented in a more palatable manner or we just don't listen.

Limbaugh is an entertainer. He is in it for the money. Like Ann Coulter he needs to keep his name fresh. He has the base but wants to expand. I am thinking he is seeing the beginning of the end of his empire. He is a pompus fool.

    Re: Is rush limbaugh serious?

Why would you doubt he believes what he says? Just because you don't agree with it?

He's been on the air for more than 20 years and he's been saying the same things all along. He's had plenty of opportunity to BE opportunistic if he wanted to.

If you want someone who blows with whatever wind she thinks is going to make her the most money, I give you Arianna Huffington (who's due to turn conservative again).

    Limbaugh never did that.

By the way, Patisok, many have proclaimed the "beginning of the end" of Limbaugh many, many times.

(Personally, I think his greatest value is the apoplexy to which he drives the Left.)
2001-2008: Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.
2009-2016: Dissent is the highest form of racism.
2017-? (Probably): Dissent is the highest form of misogyny.
