Actually I know exactly what I am talking about. The American Dairy Association exists to serve the entire dairy industry, which meets the requirements for a non profit. NFL does not promote the entire industry, they are interested in their own brand. The IRS guidelines are clear about the qualifications for can be considered a business league and the NFL doesn't meet it.
the NFL also has rules that look out for college football, high school football, etc. It functions very much like the ADA.
