That was in Russia. They don't live by our Constitutional rights.

Do you think it's because they are simple-minded like the people you described earlier?

Not in the church. Burning things in closed premises is forbidden... by the fire department.

If one burns his/her own Bible under the blue sky, then that's OK.

Jeepers maybe if we stopped the people who burn Korans (which is one so far), they would just leave us alone?

Please, that's just an excuse. They hate us for many reasons.

IYO, are there any limits on the 1st amendment, such as yelling fire in a theatre, or burning these books in a Muslim neighborhood?
Why not lessen the number of fire-starters? My Air Force Dad would cry when he saw the flag burned, after what he saw in his career.

This is not yelling fire in a crowded theater. It is symbolic and hurts nobody. We are a secular nation, and our laws don't concern themselves if someone's freedom of expression offends someone else's sensibilities.

And the people who are to blame are the people who start the actual fires.

Ideas are more important than the symbols that represent them. Should we ban defacing symbols just because a vocal minority can't help but deface those symbols...no. Ultimately, people that deface symbols do so because the power of the idea is too great to deface and/or they are stupid enough to become subservient to an opposing idea...it is an expression of impotence and/or ignorance.

Are you referring to the people who start the fires burning the books?
Etched in my mind are Muslim women giving out a war-cry in delight after 9/11.
Is it necessary to stoke the fire in this day and age?
The insistence on archaic language from 1789 makes no sense to me in Present Moment Awareness.

No, it should be part of your freedoms and freedom of speech to burn a flag or holy book so long as it belongs to you and you aren't burning it in a way that causes danger (like having a mass burning in the streets or something)
