By saying the stated charges are a pretext you are making a claim about why Jones was arrested or at least making a claim about what he was not arrested for.

I acknowledged that some thought it was a pretext, I didn't say it was. I also made no such implication in my OP.

Yes, to burn is wasting trees. Recycle instead.

I find it playful at this point (due to no physical harm done upon people) that one form of clashing between religions revolves around burning books. Do not those people have a life?!

It is silly to even consider such legislation

I voted NO. Do we really need laws to enforce other laws that reinforce yet other laws - and that merely to assuage the feelings of a subset of our society as a whole?

Maybe instead of having this discussion regularly we should discuss whether it's really a good idea to continue allowing Muslims into this country.

    In itself, certainly not.

That doesn't mean that an event or series of actions which include the burning of a Quran can't be illegal. Driving a car isn't illegal but driving a car through a shopping mall is. Firing a gun isn't illegal but firing a gun at someone can be. Also, just because something isn't illegal doesn't make it a good thing to do.

Nope, as long as they don't create fire hazards.
