Wow.

You just admitted that is how you interpreted "The world drew the line".

Let me help you, you see in 1993 we and nearly every other country signed on to the latest ban on chem weapons (which goes back to before WWI), so, you see, the line existed for a long time.

Good evening, gimmesometruth. :2wave:

Since all those other countries signed on, and since chemical weapons were apparently used, what do you think might be their reasons for not backing BHO now? It seems that even the UN is unwilling to do so.

russia and china have veto power in the security counsel, and it seems to me they are profiting from the syrian civil war by selling weapons to the assad regime.

selling weapons to the assad regime.
well then again we look like idiots because we gave the insurgents 800 million dollars?
Good Lord almighty when will this ever end? 01/20/2017?

holy crap you are right it's all the GOP's fault dang I never saw that one coming heh heh

Good evening, AngryOldGuy! :2wave:

Well, when it comes out of left field, completely surprising everyone because it's so unexpected...

Sorry, I can not find an equivalency between chemical weapons and nuclear weapons.
I did not state an equivalence, you said Iran is the puppet master of all Syrian actions....so supposedly Iran is responsible for Syrian gas attacks. As I said this is a whopper to cover your previous whopper on "treaties"...but i understand the need to create straw arguments, it makes a tangled web.

Assad would already be gone without Iranian support, and then who the hell knows what faction would control the chemical weapons. The bigger threat in the region is Iran. I'm sorry this little tidbit escapes you...
The Assad family has had minor support from Iran, it has only been recently with the withdraw of Arab support for Bashar that he has become more dependent on Iran...but I know you need some other distraction from "Iran controls Syria" and "Syria did not sign teh chem weapons treaty...so uh, I guess I can make that argument".

Sigh.

Good evening, Unitedwestand. :2wave:

And we are selling them to the rebels, so everyone is happily making money! That still doesn't explain why our allies and the UN are not getting involved, even though all agree that chemical weapons were used.. There must be more to this story.

You are so full of ****. I now remember why I don't usually respond to your posts..

That's what we were promised, right? Ineffectual bumbling around the Middle East was done because the smart people were in charge. The world wasn't a mess of incompatible national interests, difficult trade-offs, no-win situations, and irreconcilable differences, but merely a rubix cube, waiting for the Smartest President Ever to come in and Be Wonderful Enough To Solve It. Remember?

So. How's that working out?

Obama's major problem is that very few outside his inner circle think he's as smart and competent as he, himself, thinks he is.

I wonder if Obama might want to get that bust of Churchill back now. Prolly too late, I guess. He could ask....

Um, I think we went over this last week, when I pointed out that the security council will never authorize since Russia will veto.

And the primary reason for not taking action against the killing of civilians, including children, by chem weapons.....is the neocon scam of Iraq.

Again, if you are fine with allowing the use of chem weapons, that is something you will have to answer for.

I guess i would get upset if someone reminded me of dumb things I said....but then I would have to realize they are correct....I said those dumb things.

You're upset, then? I understand. If it's any help, the president has done the very same thing. You're in good company.

I'm a woman with children, and it angers me to think that those Syrian women and children who happen to be caught in the crossfire will be the ones who will suffer. Since the boys want to play at one-upping each other on the world stage, then they, not me, will have to answer for what they're doing. :peace:

And Russia's veto was not a surprise to anyone.

Dumb things seem to be your forte. Carry on...

is it a surprise that russia and china spend more on funding the war effort of the assad regime then they have given to the effort to aid the syrian refugees?

notice that china and russia combined make up less 1% of contributions to the Syrian refugees.

So. How's that working out?

I voted reset, But not in the way the reset was advertised. Our relations are reset w/ russia, nearly reset bact to cold war status. Our relations are reset w/ Israel to the most tentative in a generation. Our relations are reset with Europe to the extent that our president can no longer count on UK parliament to follow us into our war efforts (not that I am for the Syrian strikes, I am not). Our relations are reset w/ former soviet states turned free, when we abandoned our planned missile protection for them under Nato. Our relations are reset with China too, they own us via our massive debt and they are in a strong position in negotiations.

Wouldn't we look better in the eyes of the world by sending help to the refugees, rather than causing more chaos? It bothers me that BHO and Kerry feel we should undertake this invasion on our own when, for unknown reasons, our allies and the UN are not willing to get involved. Why not? Everyone seems to acknowledge that chemical weapons were indeed used. That just doesn't make sense! :wow:

Afghanistan and Iraq has made the world war weary. And lets face it, our record isn't stellar concerning wmds.

Actually, it is directly related to the fact that all of the cons are ignoring what the term "Smart Power" refers to.

Raise your game.

Nah, I'll just bring my liberal daughter in to kick you in the teeth.

"smart power" I thought the thread was about utility meters

well, to be fair, the Media. Thrills up legs and Smartest President Ever and all that.

But yeah, you have to wonder what Putin thinks as he stares across the table at this guy. I would be astonished one day if he slapped him, just to prove he could get away with it.
