    Congratulations!!

If I added mine all together, I'd be at about 33...
I don't often change my signature, but this was just too over the top to let anyone forget with what this country is up against...

I don't recall you ever trying to explain anything, only showering one and all with invective. Happy 30th.

glad I took one more look before heading out ... you always put me in a better mood than I'm in, and I will express my gratitude by being even more affectionate with my wife ... if she notices, I'll simply say there was an angel involved ... good night ...

the memory is the first thing to go Jack ... but don't worry, Reagan served one term with his memory almost gone completely (Contras? Arms for hostages? What? Where? When?) ... thanks ...

Re: Has obama brought the races together

I'll admit, when he was first elected in 2008, my second silver lining was that not only was Obama black, but that it seemed his personal story would serve so well to help him counter so many destructive narratives in the african american community. Here was a man who could stand up and speak with credibility about growing up as a young black male without a father, who had married prior to having children, stayed married to a woman who (whatever else) appeared to be a dedicated and caring mother, who could stand up and talk to the black community today about the importance of raising children inside of a loving family, rather than on the streets, of the importance of fathers being their for their kids, rather than moving from one baby mamma / baby daddy to the next. Here was a Lawyer and Professor who could speak to the value of education and deride the notion that it was a "white thing", but rather a critical stepping stone out of poverty. Here was a figure universally adored within the African American community who could speak responsibly and respectfully counter the destructive influences of the Al Sharptons, the Jesse Jacksons. I figured the time spent listening to the crazy preacher was something he had done because it was helpful in Chicago Politics, rather than out of any kind of conviction.

Instead he seems to have chosen (deliberately or not) to insert himself into potentially racial situations in a way that divides. From the Police Acted Stupidly, to If I Had A Son He Would Look Like Trayvon to Eric Holders' Justice Department deciding White People Can't Have Their Civil Rights Violated So Why Protect Them.

Like so many other, it seems, I bought into a Hope that turned to ashes.

That's not inserting himself, and I'm quite sure that's the last thing he wants to have to do.

We are still a racist country. Obama can't fix that and frankly, that's not his job either.
You mean: "In a country where people still hate and fear whites, especially white men, how exactly was he supposed to bring us together?"

I agree with you, we are still a racist country and we always be until people recognize the racial prejudices within themselves and the fact that racism is not a "white person" thing, it's a human thing.

    That should be fairly obvious.

The fact that there are a lot of racial biases expressed towards white people? I would think so too but honestly, how many individuals could even name a black racist towards a white person? Hypothetical question but the answer would be not too many people and it's not because black people aren't racist it's because either society doesn't give a **** or they just are too ignorant to realize that racism stems from each "race".
