Which is why he was as critical to its collapse as Gorbachev. They needed each other.

I'd take him back tomorrow.
That's what you want in a President? Someone with the morals of a rat, and otherwise a rubber stamp populist? What if he had come along during a tough time instead of an easy time? How would he have dealt with terrorism or recession? Ignored it while he sexually harassed his staff? Went along with whatever the 'neocons' in congress wanted?

Its sad to see so much worship for Clinton. He was a womanizer, who harassed women, illegaly, and then lied to us and the courts about it. He accomplished basically nothing while in office. He didn't pass healthcare, he didn't really have any challenges while in office. His accomplishment is basically being present during the tech boom. Obama is FAR more successful than Clinton (which is not a good thing in my opinion).

The part in red is true. And he takes credit for it, and people fawn all over him for it.

But, fact is, it was going to happen anyway regardless who was in the oval office at the time, and whoever that was was going to benefit from it.

If it sounds like I'm criticizing him, I'm not. I'm praising him. Most politicians would have wanted to do something and put their stamp on it. He was smart enough to leave it alone and let it do its thing. Sometimes good governing is what you don't do, rather than what you do do.
If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

But on the contrary he fought the Republicans on reforming govt and the budget when we had the good times to do so. He didn't want balanced budgets, he wanted more spending.

I didn't say he was great all around.

Frankly...I dont give half a damn about his 'morals'. I dont need them, and I dont need him to teach my family. Thats my role. I need my president to be an effective leader and commander in chief. I need him or her to not be responsible for adding 6 trillion in debt and then 8 in 5 years ala Bush and Obama. I need them to be able to work effectively with congress and the world leaders. If his wife wants to let him **** around on her for 30 years...thats fine. Now...I DO have a problem with the rape and sexual assault/harassment charges, but since they have been discharged...c'est la vie.

I need my president to be a president...not a saint.

Did your keyboard just melt when you typed that or did it literally catch fire?

Some would say that without some semblance of morals, it would be literally impossible for them to be an effective leader.

Evidence suggests otherwise. Clinton has the morals of a sewer rat but he was a very effective leader.

The results thus far are quite telling, a sewer rat that inherited a booming economy and a relatively quiet post cold war world who was forced into welfare reform and a balanced budget by the Republican members of the House with their Contract with America and Of course Raygun. Now the myth that was JFK still shines on after all these years which is sad but what's a mutha to do? At least no one seems to think the Peanut farmer LBJ or Obama were worth a damn. That's a good sign, there may yet be hope for Amerika? But Clinton could have killed Osama back then ya 'member that kiddies?
