Asking other people to foot the bill is the complete opposite of "manning up" and paying for your children.

We want you to not have kids you cannot afford.

Want in one hand, defecate in the other. See which fills up faster.

I want my rent to be more affordable. I really want a boat. A new one.
You are confusing wants with needs.

There is something very, very warped about that.
: Since they give children backpacks of food on Friday so they have something to eat on the weekends, what are the food stamps being used for these days? And how do they justify doing it, other than to appeal to emotion..."it's for the children"? .

The liberal disease is always "appealing to emotion". They tend to be fiscally irresponsible and uneducated, and think that the government is a giant blank check, existing only to right the world's infinite wrongs - regardless of whose fault they are to begin with.

Real solutions that are tough are never the answer. They're not..."fair". Another word that exists as nothing more than an emotional plea, devoid of logic and rationale.

No, you need housing you can afford. You afford it by looking at the bank account and finding what you can afford. If its not in a neighborhood you like, get a second job.
My father retired for 20 hard years in the DC PD. What did he do after retirement? Got a job. He was a master carpenter so he was lucky to only work when he wanted to or felt he needed to. But he worked.
And it was not demeaning to have to work. Its what men do.

I don't know about the U.S. but most cities in Canada are experiencing a giant housing bubble which has inflated prices by ludicrous amounts.
