We should be supporting Russia's decision to bring moral decency back to the liberal ****hole we call Earth.

how are they being threatened? being gay is not a crime in russia. Engaging in homosexual activity in pubic is. So tell the few gays on our team not to be sucking face in public and they won't have anything to worry about

I'm fine with that but Russia made this political, and they know it. The Olympics without politics is a bit like the Earth without gravity, it ain't happenin'.

well a boycott isn't going to happen so you can quit whining about Russia. If we boycott them for their policy over homosexuals swapping spit in public, why shouldn't other nations boycott the USA for some of the stuff we have done.

China wasn't boycotted, and neither was England. I tire of non athletes telling athletes what they ought to do

when You have trained for 6-8 years minimum, given up lots of things to be an olympian, then maybe you would have some standing to tell others who have done the same that they ought to piss it all away to make an IMPOTENT AND WORTHLESS statement that will make the hand wringing "we have to do something" ninnies in the USA feel better

Until then, you have no real argument

What is it that makes you think this is about feelings, or that we are not aware of the great costs to the athletes? Hopes and dreams matter, but other things matter more unfortunately.

Ok, how about this. YOU agree to compensate one athlete the total cost in dollars invested to put him/her in a condition to be able to go to the Olympics if Obama decides to boycott it. This means you would have a stake in this and you opinion on how athletes should just give up the opportunity that they had sacrificed for a lifetime for it.

If not, then say your piece about what policy we should take but don't mention that the athletes should be just be happy and willingly give up on their dream. It is not yours to sacrifice.

the moronic Carter boycott didn't do squat but ruined the dreams of a few hundred elite athletes

one of my friends-denied a chance to defend his gold medal from 76 noted that when carter dies every athlete from the 80 games will be a track athlete

all will be running as fast as possible to be the first to piss on his grave!
