That's unlikely, and it matters not. If the athletes are threatened, we'll very likely stay home, and that's as it should be.

Only 7 here think it is OK for us to act like spoiled children.
Politics and athletics must be kept separate; the previous boycotts should never have happened....shameful....

Americans love sports, and doing what they like, more than they like doing what is right. It's expected.

    I'll say this again.

Petition the Olympic committee to have an agreement/ultimatum with Russia in regards to not taking actions against visitors during the Olympics. Even though it's too early to build a new Olympic Village, a previous country that would like to host again can use what's already in place if Russia doesn't comply.

Keep in mind, if we boycotted every nation that doesn't let US freedoms follow US citizens, we would be boycotting nearly all, if not all, other nations.

The purpose of the Olympics is specifically to NOT be political nor engage in politics. Boycotting for social/political issues is in exact contradiction of the Olympics.

Sports competition has NOTHING to do with gay rights issues whatsoever.

    Maybe

Boycott over Russian policies and laws or by the way they treat their own homosexuals? - NO
There are much worse abuses in other Nations that we do not boycott.

But if our own athletes or our citizens are endangered then we most definitely should boycott.
I am not aware of having been assured by the Russian Government itself, that our people will be exempted. If that is the case, then a boycott could be warranted.

Hitler should have been confronted earlier for his civil rights abuses and a boycott should have been part of that.
