There's no feel good and no one is being punished although some will, unfortunately, suffer.

It's no different than if I were to travel to most places in the ME and have to wear a head scarf, not make out in public, and follow all of their other religious laws. It's a different culture and a different country, and if you are a guest you go by their rules.

It's up to the individual athletes to decide who they are. It's not up to the government to make that decision for them.
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

why is it wrong telling gays not to engage in public displays of homosexuality for the two weeks they are in a country that bans such stuff

we don't allow our female soldiers to dress certain ways in "allies" territories such as Saudi Arabia

Nope, but it's not in the Olympic Spirit either. Even Hitler didn't threaten to kick the black guys out and that is saying a lot.

I'm sure that the athletes do not feel that way. They've worked hard for this. The games are the goal, not to express gaydom.

It doesn't matter if it has an affect, it matters that we stand up for what we believe in. That's true in all adult life.

    What do you think?
LOL..uh no. This isn't the cold war. This barely even rises to the level of a tiff. Why escalate it AND destroy the hopes of our "amateur" athletes?
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

that's just plain moronic. Its the classic far left idiocy of "DOING SOMETHING" is what matters even if the IMPACT is harmful. I stand up for the athletes-not a few upset homosexual advocates who think that their right to engage in public sexual displays is more important than the athletes
