That's entirely untrue. Take a break, you are letting your emotions as an athlete get the best of you.

that's rich, your desire to make a statement that only will hurt innocent Americans is not only emotional but it is based on a lack of understanding.

The right of a few gays to engage in public displays of homosexual affection in a foreign nation is not exactly a right that demands pissing on a hundred or more of our athletes. do you also demand we boycott say every fund muslim nation over their laws concerning women not say wearing swimsuits or leotards in public?

    What do you think?
The US government has no business using the Olympics to make a point unless it plans to alter the whole of our foreign policy along the same lines. It would be patently hypocritical to walk out on the Olympics because of the Russian government's position on homosexuality while continuing to trade with China despite its record on human rights.

If the US Olympic team were to quit at the last minute, leaving the United States with no competitors to its name, that would be acceptable to me.
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

They can go under any flag they like, as long as it isn't ours.

oh the drama. you still haven't told us how your moronic suggestion that we punish our athletes will actually accomplish anything

I have a great idea. People who feel they cannot abide by the host country's laws that prohibit ACTIONS (not status) should not travel with the team. Those who can certainly don't need people like you deciding what they do

Our country doesn't have a standing on how Russia maintains its internal laws and civil order. At least Carter was boycotting due to an invasion of another country. And I think Carter was still wrong on boycotting it. We should have went and did what we could to make sure that Afghanistan participated also.

America still has plenty of issues to deal with at home than seeking those on a foreign shore.

We should not ask those who worked so hard to sacrifice just so one President can get a few measly beanies.

We are not between a rock and a hard place. You are the one advocating putting our hand between the grist and the millstone. Maybe you mean well, but the outcome will not benefit the gays in Russia.
