Should the US Boycott the Russian Olympics?

Should the US Boycott the Russian Olympics?

Now You are engaging in drama. No it is not death but having the opportunity to go after ones dream be dashed only for an impotent protest by an impotent President is a heart-wrenching thing to have done to a person. You are begining to worry me. I think you really do not understand other peoples feelings. I ask that you inwardly contemplate just what you are trying to do.
Life can be unfair. Get used to it.

I was referring to wearing an armband in protest. If the Spirit is broken by Russia then we can break it ourselves to protest it.
That's not in the rules and they would be forced to act, exactly what we don't want.

Not getting a promotion due to Office Politics is unfair. Not being able to go to the Olympics because of a hissy fit by the President is something entirely different.

This is no hissy fit. As long as you call it that you can join the drama league. That's irrational.

Well it looks like one to me. Russia is not a free country and it just got a little less free. Boycotting does no good and we should show that gay people are just like everyone else and can even be athletes and not only girly men.

Thanks for that. Next!

If all our athletes were to wear the armband in protest. And Russia tried that then the games would be shut down.
That's unlikely, and it matters not. If the athletes are threatened, we'll very likely stay home, and that's as it should be.

Only 7 here think it is OK for us to act like spoiled children.
Politics and athletics must be kept separate; the previous boycotts should never have happened....shameful....

Americans love sports, and doing what they like, more than they like doing what is right. It's expected.

I'll say this again.

Petition the Olympic committee to have an agreement/ultimatum with Russia in regards to not taking actions against visitors during the Olympics. Even though it's too early to build a new Olympic Village, a previous country that would like to host again can use what's already in place if Russia doesn't comply.

Keep in mind, if we boycotted every nation that doesn't let US freedoms follow US citizens, we would be boycotting nearly all, if not all, other nations.

The purpose of the Olympics is specifically to NOT be political nor engage in politics. Boycotting for social/political issues is in exact contradiction of the Olympics.

Sports competition has NOTHING to do with gay rights issues whatsoever.
