Should the US Boycott the Russian Olympics?

Should the US Boycott the Russian Olympics?

Earlier I mentioned the two Black athletes at Mexico city and how they were kicked out of the Country, with their medals. Leave the politics, religion and sexual preference at home.
It's not that simple, not anymore.

WRONG, their opinion is of principal concern. Before any President does anything like this he should have to listen to those who have the most to lose. If Carter would have done that he might have changed his mind (but I doubt it.)

This guy doesn't care about the Olympiads or the Olympics. His gay agenda is quite clear. Some of these people are soooo delusional that it is the only thing they care about.

He doesn't have to listen to anyone. It's not their call, it's his. When you go in the name of the USA at this level, that's how it works.

No, it doesn't. Your turn.

We'll see. Somehow I'm highly doubtful that our country will choose not to participate because of this lunacy.

You don't know the US very well I see? We are a nation of ideals, that's who we are, and our backs are to the wall on this one. I'm sure there is plenty going on to try and avoid this, but it's going to be very ugly very soon and when Putin digs in, we are gone. Been there, done that.

Not in this case. When the spirit has been broken there is no requirement to show up.

Not so long ago it would not have been tolerated in most of the US either. Doing so now would still be considered hypocritical and morally obstinate.

Choose something else to protest the law in Russia.

We'll see how quickly Russia escorts them to the tarmac. Obama has set policy in stone and all lifestyles must live by the Olympic rules. I recognize the damage to Dems at the polls next year due to this.

Not so long ago is still too damn long ago to have our athletes threatened just for being openly gay.

If it stays as it is, it won't make it that far.

What do you say? You say - I'm sorry, but sometimes in this life you have to take a stand, and this is one of those times.

So like an authoritarian, you are going to say to the rest of us, my feelings are more important that yours...

You're going to say the rest of us don't matter?

This is not about feelings. It's about taking a stand for what's right. The American Way, remember that old thing?

sorry, keeping a few gays happy is not worth the cost

they should pursue their dreams and tell people like you to mind their own business

Why would this even make gays happy? It only makes vindictive activists happy in my view. The rules are simple. Don't show any public affection that can violate their laws.

If what stays as it is? Are you predicting a World War? The mighty Creator knows we've given enough NUKES to the rest of the world, like classic enemies India and Pakistan, my top pick.
If it stays as it is, it won't make it that far.

The Olympics is for Nations, not States, or Regions, or Provinces, or even Commonwealths within Nations.

You said that the athletes could be under another flag and the State flag would be another flag and would actually represent the USofA. It wouldn't really represent that State. You and Obama would get your much needed protest and the athletes would be able to participate in the games a win/win scenario.

No one will be happy. This isn't a happy thing.

The flag has to be a country. For that they are on their own.

So you say, but if they were straight and wanted to kiss in public, well, sure thing right? Yeah, that's the problem.
Don't know.

Maybe Russia has laws against that too. South Africa laws don't permit heterosexuals to kiss in public, do you know if Russia may have a similar law of not? Maybe this is all hyped.

I wish it was.
