We played offense when we bombed UBL training camps and too on the Taliban in Afghanistan. Drone bombings and getting UBL were offense but this embassy retreat is defense and we have been on defense since we didn't send help during Benghazi and didn't retaliate after Benghazi.

UBL's stated goal was to run us out of Arab lands, he just succeeded.

My goal is to get out of Arab lands.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

No even worse, we set a precedent that we are there at Al Qaeda's pleasure. Anytime they snap their fingers we will run like scalded dogs.

I would have preferred we hardened our embassies after the Benghazi fiasco and when we got these recent terror threats we battened down the hatches and said "take your best shot". After they took their best shot I would rain Holy Hell on them like we should have done after Benghazi.

So instead of taking security precautions and waiting until the threat has been neutralized we should have turned our embassies (somehow) into fortified outposts and hoped that a truck bomb didn't roll into them? And then if it did we'll just rain holy hell 'on them'? This does not sound like a sound strategy.

Heya Sherman Well.....what do you think the Strategy was that was employed by the Brits? Did they close down all their Embassies? Did they close down from doing business throughout an entire region of the world?
