    Should Republicans defund obamacare

    I'm torn on this one. I have been against obamacare but by hook or by crook it was put into law and people have been planning their finances around that law. Now that certain Republicans are threatening to defund it everything is once again in turmoil. How can you plan for anything when this is on again off again. I for instance was going to see a dramatic decrease in my health care cost because I am semi retired and have a very low income. We went out and bought a new car thinking we could afford the payments with the money we would save on health insurance premiums but if obamacare is defunded we will now have those car payments plus our original health insurance cost. I even started a thread when we bought the car asking if obamacare might stimulate the economy by freeing up money to buy things like we did but some people made a good point when they said some will lose money and won't buy things so it's at best a wash. I'm sure other individuals and businesses have made similar financial decisions based on this new system and I have to think pulling the rug out at this late time will do more harm than good for our economy. It makes me want to grab these politicians by the collar and say, "Will you guys pick a f***** plan and stay with it please!"

    They have to defund it if they want any chance of getting re-elected. If it is allowed to implement, uneducated, ignorant voters will be able to taste the kool-aid and it's all over.

    If the GOP don't vote (again), to defund it they will look like even more like hypocrites. They have been crying how bad it is, yet every time when the time comes to do something about it they cave in. They are polticially neutered right now and quite frankly a joke. They cry about over-burdening budgets, yet when the time comes they cave in. They will lose closely contested elections even more after if they don't.

    Instead of defunding it, they should simply attach removing the mandates to every piece of legislation that passes the House and toss the hot potato back on the WH desk. Eventually something would give and the liberals would be forced to choose between say food stamps and the mandate, or immigration and the mandates, shutting down the government and the mandates. Those mandates are the lynch pin--without it the house of cards falls apart and it is a lot less obvious to swingy voters what you are doing.

    leftist all over must be jumping for joy....the republicans just took possession of obamacare....had they not said they could stop it and opened up the debate the program would have been 100% stuck on the left. When people got their 40 hrs cut to 28, when employers laid off 6 people to get under 50 and when those who don't want insurance have to pay a percentage of their income for it the left would have been crucified (as they should be). But no, a few tea party type republicans huffed, puffed, and now if it passes its no longer the lefts fault it's all their faults.

    I would like them to stop it, now more than ever.

    Excellent point, if they say they can defund it but don't they share the blame for what it will cause.

    I'm not jumping for joy, but it is quite amusing to see the GOP step in the big steam-pile of **** again. Much like the 2012 election the GOP has once again snatched defeat from victory.

    I despise the Dem/Rep duopoly mainly for this reason alone. There isn't very much difference between the two sides as they only want to play political one-up games. It's just a choice of "How would you like big government to interfere with you". Both sides do it, just differently.

    I believe that the conservatives are determined to wreck our nation, if necessary, in order to push their pro-wealthy agenda.
    The Democrats / liberals / progressives / socialists will have to be united in order to stop this.
    Are not we in the majority ?
    If not, our nation will be set back by a century or two....

    Yes!!!! Let yet another Boehner/Tea budget be DOA. Brilliant strategy for doing nothing while feeling like they've done something. Feel-good will abound, and the Right Wing Blogosphere can go hog wild.

    It will do no good. The funding will come from elsewhere, although with projected costs of the PPACA it will result in dramatic budget slashings on a ton of programs. Social Security is essentially a giant slush fund for Washington to do as they please.

    If you try to block funding, you're just making far-left Democrats rob Peter to pay Paul. All Republicans need to do is maintain the status quo and vocally speak out against it, making a "wipe my hands" notion toward it, in view of their constituants.

    This is about a midterm election power play. Republicans don't need to turn hero overnight.
