ESFJ---ummmm, I don't know....What do you guys in The Basement think...I am a far left progressive liberal on most issues.....

I've taken this test before. I'm an ENFP.

ENFJ
Extravert(1%) iNtuitive(12%) Feeling(38%) Judging(56%)

You have marginal or no preference of Extraversion over Introversion (1%)
You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (12%)
You have moderate preference of Feeling over Thinking (38%)
You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (56%)

INTJ - The Scientist

Independent, original, analytical, and determined. Have an exceptional ability to turn theories into solid plans of action. Highly value knowledge, competence, and structure. Driven to derive meaning from their visions. Long-range thinkers. Have very high standards for their performance, and the performance of others. Natural leaders, but will follow if they trust existing leaders.

INTJs are natural leaders, although they usually choose to remain in the background until they see a real need to take over the lead. When they are in leadership roles, they are quite effective, because they are able to objectively see the reality of a situation, and are adaptable enough to change things which aren't working well. They are the supreme strategists - always scanning available ideas and concepts and weighing them against their current strategy, to plan for every conceivable contingency.

INTJs have a tremendous amount of ability to accomplish great things. They have insight into the Big Picture, and are driven to synthesize their concepts into solid plans of action. Their reasoning skills gives them the means to accomplish that. INTJs are most always highly competent people, and will not have a problem meeting their career or education goals. They have the capability to make great strides in these arenas. On a personal level, the INTJ who practices tolerances and puts effort into effectively communicating their insights to others has everything in his or her power to lead a rich and rewarding life.

Other people may have a difficult time understanding an INTJ. They may see them as aloof and reserved. Indeed, the INTJ is not overly demonstrative of their affections, and is likely to not give as much praise or positive support as others may need or desire. That doesn't mean that he or she doesn't truly have affection or regard for others, they simply do not typically feel the need to express it. Others may falsely perceive the INTJ as being rigid and set in their ways. Nothing could be further from the truth, because the INTJ is committed to always finding the objective best strategy to implement their ideas. The INTJ is usually quite open to hearing an alternative way of doing something

Not that I know a lick about statistics, but I find it interesting that our sample (voters) has reached statistically valid numbers (N>30) yet we have only around 4% of responders to this thread occupying personality types that account for approximately 25% of people out there.

Similarly, the 7 rarest personality types out there are less than 19% of the populace in aggregate but more than half of the people who voted in this poll.

Possible indication that the types who post on political forums are not representative of the breakdown of actual people out there?

What does that say about us? Or what does it say about the types who have no interest in debating things the way we do?

INTJ

You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (78%)
You have distinctive preference of Intuition over Sensing (75%)
You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (50%)
You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (44%)

Pretty much exactly what I expected it to be.

And that was an absolutely worthless exercise for which for at least 1/3rd my answer really would be "it depends."

I am extremely empathetic, sympathetic, defensive etc towards children. Somewhat towards women. Basically none towards men. SO... how do I answer the questions about that?

I am very extroverted and often center stage with people I know and are in my circle. I have little interest in interacting with strangers outside of it. So... my answer is?

Another problem is does a person REALLY answer how he/is, or about false self perceptions, and maybe tossing in a little wanting to seem a better person?

Personality type books consider such things and while anyone around here could willingly misrepresent him/herself, the tendencies are pretty unmistakable. Furthermore, those books don't typically value one type over another, so if you read them you'll feel little reason to go into denial mode about your personality. Each type highlights inherent strengths and weaknesses.

ISTJ - according to the actual Myers-Briggs I took in Aug 2011.

For sport, here is my Strengths Finder

INTj - strong I, solid NT, barely J. On the line between the Scientist and the Thinker.

Pretty much the same thing I got 20 years ago when we did this at work. :)
