National boycotts are now being encouraged for products critical to the Florida economy. Disney theme parks both in Florida and California, all orange juices of all brands even if other states are affected and a list of national retail stores. It's not well known but Florida is also the nation's top cattle producer, even ahead of Texas so beef and dairy prices could be going down too, although it might not since many people aren't aware of Florida's huge cattle industry.

As they say, money talks. If the Florida economy is brought to its knees, they might be forced to repeal stand your ground even though the current governor says he won't. What do you think, will stand your ground be repealed before Obamacare? Sorry, with all the talk of repealing Obamacare when I hear repeal even in the context of stand your ground, Obamacare comes to mind. I personally think I would be funny to see Obamacare not repealed but stand your ground repealed.

I also think this whole matter hurts Jeb Bush's chances in 2016. He was the Florida governor who signed it into law.

Neither. Most likely both will be modified, but their overall spirit will remain. That is to say, the trend towards healthcare for all will continue, and the principles of self-defense will continue. The specifics will be modified as many times as are necessary to get it right.

Obamacare won't be repealed. Another health care reform might be passed, but it will probably be as cumbersome and expensive as Obamacare ever was, and we'll continue to have the most expensive health care on the planet.

Stand your ground laws may eventually be repealed, but the furor over Travon Martin will have long ago died down before it is. Stand your ground actually had nothing to do with the Martin case anyway. Was Zimmerman supposed to try to run off while his head was being pounded into the concrete?

I do not think it is a good thing to have your economy based on orange juice.

wow that's pretty far out there. tourism is a huge part of florida's economy as well

Its lack of a confiscatory income tax is why millionaires from all over the nation retire there I don't think they have a death tax either. Lots of wealthy retirees bring billions to that state.

Lots of normal people retire there and a lot of Canadian retirees go to Florida for the winter because it's warm being the main thing then come back to Canada for the summer. It was also a joke but seriously how much of Florida's economy relies on fruit?

Niether will be repealed.

Florida appears to be somewhat a pro-2nd amendment state and pro-self defense. Anti-2nd amendment trash and anti-self defense trash will be ignored.

Republicans are never going to repeal Obama-care. These talks of repealing it and DOA repeals are nothing more than pillow talk the republicans use to con suckers into voting for them. Just like the Democrats passing the Brady Bill got a lot of republicans elected, but they did not repeal it when Bush had the political capital.

What's interesting is Florida, once a red state has turned purple and might at this point be blue. The current GOP governor is up for reelection and polls say people aren't happy with him. I think stand your ground as well a promise to pardon a lady in a case where she fired a warning shot to scare off her abusive husband who had just threatened to kill her got a 20 years mandatory when the bullet didnt even hit anyone, will be major campaign issues used against the governor. That coupled with a boycott of the state's major businesses and industries, I think a democrat governor is going to be a elected, which is 50% of getting stand your ground repealed.
