Okay I need to correct myself. The most current Psychiatric/Psychological literature actually states that pedophiles do not have a sexual orientation (like homosexual or heterosexual) because they are unable to have adult relationships, they are fixated only on children. Some literature also proposes that they do have a sexual orientation, but it is for children (regardless of the child's sex).

Further, that some prefer boys, some girls, and some both. This preference is established BEFORE a pedophile reaches puberty, suggesting it may very well be a distinct (albeit harmful and destructive) sexual orientation.

The literature I was using was older than I thought. Sorry.

In any case this literature does not identify pedophiles as either homosexual or heterosexual. That makes my vote for "pedophile" alone.

I think the reason it seems more prevalent among boys is because males have more social access to boys than girls, and boys are starting to report it more.

That is the original meaning of the word "homophobia." A person who attacks gays to try to disprove his gay sexual fantasies to himself, ie to incessantly condemn homosexuality to prove to himself he isn't a homosexual (or bisexual). This seems to apply to the OP as he asserts that ALL gays are male. If I recall correctly, he always does that. Note he uses "someone" rather than "man." The rest of us know gays are male and female, but to the OP he ONLY contexts homosexuality to his own gender.

He wanted us to all confirm his bigoted beliefs that all pedophiles are Gay, knowing all too well that we would do no such thing and instead question why he is attacking homosexuals.

You are so wrong my left wing friend there are a lot of gay males who are not attracted to male children and there are gay male pedophiles attracted to young boys but not young girls, they gay pedophile priests prove that.

Almost all of them in fact. Remember, in order, pedophiles are people with no real adult sexuality who are exclusively attracted to kids(most pedophiles), those who are straight(almost all the rest of pedophiles), and those who are gay(the handful left). Your sad little attempt to conflate the two together is pathetic and you know better. You can no longer use ignorance as an excuse since it has been explained and documented to you repeatedly. At this point you are just lying to smear those you look down upon.

Some pedophiles experience attraction to both adults and children, and oftentimes, their sexual preference for adults is independent of their sexual preference for children (and often they don't even have a preference for the latter). However, true pedophiles exclusively desire children, even if they have adult relationships as a sort of "cover."

So, there doesn't appear to be any consistent correlation between sexual preference and the sex of their child victims.

As an example of this, here's just the straight-up numbers: almost all pedophiles are men. About 1/3 of them prey on male children. But only about 2-5% of the population is gay. So obviously, there's a lot more pedophiles who molest male children than there are gay people.

The reason for this may be because, socially, a man has more access to male children than he does female children. Pedophiles usually molest children they know. So this could be a family member (who would have access to children of either sex), but also something like a scout leader, or a coach, who would probably only have access to male children.

Pedophiles are fundamentally opportunistic. Some do prefer one sex over another, but their primary attraction is to children.

WRONG!!! Entering the (Catholic) Priesthood means you don't have to portray a heterosexual role by engaging in expected male-female wooing and wedding. Since he is not heterosexual he can avoid women. That does not make him "GAY" since none of the Priests alleged or convicted seemed to have been engaging in ADULT sexual activities with any men.

A person who is solely attracted to children would seek the Priesthood for easy access to either boys or girls. Since Catholic rituals traditionally use boys in services and often had boys choirs, a male pedophile with a preference for male children would naturally gravitate to this role. It grants him easy and secret access without the pressure of pretending to like women, or dealing with gay men.

Actually, it does. It's probably most common in those who are closeted even with regards to themselves. They think by attacking others, it means they must not be gay or else it's a way to deflect. To be clear, I'm not saying this is you. I don't believe you're gay. What I do believe, NP, is that you keep bringing the issue up is because it makes you feel morally superior.

Something I've noticed is that none of the threads (which have been thankfully few) that advocate adult/minor sexual relationships have been started by any of the gay members of the forum (that I know of). I condemn pedos equally, no matter who their preferred victims are.

wow that is pretty heavy but you are wrong. I am just trying to find out how everyone feels on this issue. Some of my liberal and gay friends get all bent out of shape when I bring up subjects like this but I would like to learn.
