I should note that I've never actually heard one complain, but I don't think I know any real Native American people.
I appreciate it's different in America, but here in Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated in October and it was traditionally the time of year when crops were being reaped and food was bountiful and people gave thanks for the year's bounty. I can't think of a single political or politically correct connotation that Thanksgiving has been saddled with here. It's just a time to celebrate with family and friends - very low key.

Get with the times - we mostly have the HST now - harmonized sales tax - it combines the old GST, goods and services tax at the federal level, with the various Province's PST, provincial sales tax.

And just for those who don't like the word tax, our wonderful politicians have started calling them "revenue enhancements" now - who wouldn't want to enhance revenue, right?

I think to most people that's what it's all about here in America too. I don't think anyone is actually celebrating the slaughter. But it's easy to see how that could be interpreted in such a way.

Also, I think everyone should wear burkas, just in case. Even men. Especially men, now that I think about it.

Don't forget that America makes Thanksgiving the biggest commercial celebration of the year, bigger than Christmas, and let's also not forget it's all about football too.

Here in Canada we get to benefit from two Thanksgivings - ours and yours - I'm pretty sure people in America mostly don't have a clue that ours is different.

    Personally, I like Beltane.

Both Christmas and Thanksgiving don't have a religious meaning for me, they are times of family gathering, that is what makes them a holiday for me.

Those who choose to celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday, it's fine with me.

I'm offended by Arbor day. I'm allergic to trees and I see them as my enemy. We are at war.

I'm offended by Columbus day, it improperly suggests that Columbus, and not Leif Ericson, discovered North America. It's offensive against people with a Norse background and gives too much credit to Spaniards and the Portuguese.

I'm offended, therefore these holidays should be removed and no one can celebrate them.

I thought the most masculine one was usually the "dad" figure.

The one with the flannel gets June. The other one gets May.

    Easy enough.
