Are you proud to be American/citizen of your country?

Would you openly say you are proud to be American/nationality of your country?

Do you approve of the direction America is headed right now ?

I said there is room for improvement. You presumed I would move to the right. ;)

No weird theories, just want to know how long the Republicans controlled Congress and the Presidency during Hitler's reign, then we'll take the next step.

The Republicans in the Senate could block legislation just as they are doing today. You really need to learn how our government works, if you think the party in control of the Senate has absolute control.

But you continue to dodge your earlier statement that we CHOSE to overthrow Hitler when the fact is he declared war on us!

Is that still the case though!? Even after 68 years?

Yes... in West-Germany, people more or less ignored German guilt in the 50s and 60s, but the new post-war generation insisted very much on remembering the guilt of their fathers in the 70s to 90s ... maybe it has normalized a little during the past decade, I don't know. At least we're no longer reluctant flying the flag when there is a soccer match.

In Germany, for understandable reasons, many people are reluctant to say they're "proud to be German".

How about you? Are you proud to be American/British/[insert nationality here]? Or rather, would you openly word it this way?

Yes, I am proud to be an American and would openly word it that way.

Pride in your nation is pride in the actions of all who came before you and what their actions then resulted in today. Pride in your nation is pride in being conected to that heritage, being a part of it, and carrying it on.

I generally feel "awe" "appreciation" and "respect" for individuals that came before.
