    Medical Marijuana

In a recent poll by Fox News, 85% of American's support medical marijuana:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/inte...cal-marijuana/

And 52 % of American's support the legalization and taxation of marijuana:

Survey: 52 percent of Americans in favor of legalizing marijuana - U.S. News

I am sure this poll has happened before on this website, but not for a little while and I wanted to get an overall view of how people felt about this topic. I recently read a topic on the legalization of prostitution which is a topic I don't really have an opinion of.

Anyways, I was recently in Amsterdam since I am studying abroad and I wanted to try their "coffee". I avoided the red light district but I asked a few of the locals what they thought of both subjects and what they thought of the tons of tourists that seemingly carry both industries. With my very disjointed Dutch I found that a lot of people supported both, but they thought that the tourists were annoying in every aspect of Amsterdam except for the coffeeshop owners and others who profit from the tourist industry.

They said it was more of a necessary evil that really helped their local economy.

With America being next in line to start wide-spread legalization (Colorado, Washington) and the profits that these states will probably produce from taxes and tourism, do you hope that your state follow suite?

    Re: Medical Marijuana

I think medical marijuana should be a completely different topic. I have seen it make a big differenece with patients N/V and anorexia, there are many studies that back up the effectiveness of marijuana/THC. It should just be handled as another drug.

I think pot should otherwise be legal and taxed.

Now lets not get crazy here, a reasonable tax is fair enough.

    And I support full legalization.
I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it.

    Re: Medical Marijuana

I think these are two entirely separate questions and I think a lot of people support or oppose the idea of medical marijuana solely because they think it will make recreational marijuana easier to get and/or is a step on the path to it being legalised in general.

On the medical side, I see no reason why marijuana shouldn't be treated like any other pharmaceutical, practically and legally. It certainly does have medical uses but it also has side-effects and risks. They all need to be properly considered and accounted for without influence from the recreational debate at all.

Recreationally, I could really go either way. I don't think legalisation will necessarily create any better a situation as we have now - it would just swap one set of problems with another. I could see some forms of decriminalisation of use as a positive step, though that should be as part of a wider policy.

I support both legal and medical use.....As Willie Nelson says. Best Stress medicine in the World other than a Cat sitting on ya Chest and purrin away.

Moreover I to have seen Cancer patients that were in Pain until they started smoking medical marijuana. Then the pain wasn't affecting them as intensely.

    Re: Medical Marijuana

I do not approve of marijuana usage in any form. I see no benefit to it that cannot be produced through other means. Even as a glaucoma patent who has had prior surgeries for my issues, I would not use it even if it were offered to me. If I were to contract Cancer I would not use it either.

    Re: Medical Marijuana

There is no good justification for it being illegal in any context, unless you're a socialist worried about something so easy to grow and therefore difficult to tax.

As much as I'm in favor of legalization, if it's legal to grow it (which it should be) then the people who make big claims about the tax potential are going to need to rethink their estimates. Current prices are massively inflated due to decades of prohibition, and those prices will have to drop substantially if they want to compete with people growing their own, or continuing black market trade.

    Re: Medical Marijuana

I support it being legal for medicinal and recreational use.For recreational usage it should be treated no different than alcohol or cigarettes minus the sin taxes like regulation on where you can and can't smoke and DWI laws. For medicinal use it should be treated like over the counter medicine but still need ID to purchase and in some cases prescription medicine that insurance will or can pay for.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I want it legalized just so people can shut up about it.
Haymarket's "support" of the 2nd Amendment, a right he believes we never had.
