legalize it and sell it to adults. if the person wants to use it in a recreational or medical way, cool.

Would you use prescription narcotics if prescribed?

I'm sorry to read this because I've seen for myself how very helpful marijuana is for those with cancer and also those who are dying.

    I don't support legalization; I support decriminalization.

Survey: 52 percent of Americans in favor of legalizing marijuana - U.S. News

I am sure this poll has happened before on this website, but not for a little while and I wanted to get an overall view of how people felt about this topic. I recently read a topic on the legalization of prostitution which is a topic I don't really have an opinion of.

Anyways, I was recently in Amsterdam since I am studying abroad and I wanted to try their "coffee". I avoided the red light district but I asked a few of the locals what they thought of both subjects and what they thought of the tons of tourists that seemingly carry both industries. With my very disjointed Dutch I found that a lot of people supported both, but they thought that the tourists were annoying in every aspect of Amsterdam except for the coffeeshop owners and others who profit from the tourist industry.

They said it was more of a necessary evil that really helped their local economy.

With America being next in line to start wide-spread legalization (Colorado, Washington) and the profits that these states will probably produce from taxes and tourism, do you hope that your state follow suite?
As far as I know, they attempted to counter the influx of drug tourists with a new law that requires a membership card for marihuana/hash "coffee shops" only people with a Dutch citizenship are allowed to get.

Anyway, I'm strongly in favor of medical use of marihuana (all drugs in general -- when a doctor thinks it is useful as a med, and if just in controlled withdrawal, I think he should be able to prescribe it).

Although I sometimes used marihuana/hash several years ago, I'm not really fond of private marihuana use, much like I think alcohol use is usually not a good thing -- but it shouldn't be illegal. Simply because there are more disadvantages to it being illegal, than there are to legalizing it (black markets, unhealthy fillers, crime and so on).

At the very least, private cultivation should be decriminalized. I would love to see marijuana literally become a cottage industry, only local growers providing to local buyers, and many if not most people growing for themselves to share for free with their friends, like you would tomatoes and fruits, peppers, etc.
The morality of abortion is not a religious belief, any more than the morality of slavery, apartheid, rape, larceny, murder or arson is a religious belief. These are norms of the natural law of mankind and can be legislated even in a completely religionless society.

    Re: Medical Marijuana

I can't vote in this one due to my choice not being present. I would be for it only under certain circumstances. I am for Medical Marijuana as I see it as just another drug in the arsenal to help dying patients have a little better life. I would be for recreational marijuana if it was treated the same as liquor. DUI, DWI, work related, Etc. Tax it just like Liquor, and of course age restrictions. But in exchange for legalizing it, we stop taxpayer funded drug rehab, including Alchahol rehab. My feeling is if your gonna use the stuff you get to pay the bill if you develop an issue. Shouldn't be on the taxpayer to bail you out. Additionally we stop paying drunks and druggies SSI to sit at home and get messed up all day.

Don't they make THC in pill form. That covers the Medical needs. I've never been able to understand why someone needs drugs to have a life. Can someone explain to me why they need drugs? And to stop the ever ready "But Booze" I include Alcohol in the same category as drugs.
I confess, I did it, I let the dogs out.

I've had them prescribed as pain medication after surgeries and injuries. In general, if they even get filled, most of the prescription gets flushed down the toilet after the fact. I go out of my way to avoid that sort of medication unless I'm under direct medical supervision.

I don't support either and live in a state that has decriminalized it and now allows it for medicinal purposes.

My father declined any and all THC derived therapies while he was dying of cancer.

OK, but do you care if other people want to use it (medically or otherwise)? If so, why?

If you tax the hell out of it, it won't slow down the import of illegal drugs that can undercut the cost of the legal stuff. That makes no sense.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.
