    I don't think there is a war on atheism in America and I don't think there is a war on atheism in Europe either. Unfortunately that's as far as my personal experience scope reaches too.

    I think that less people are going to church in America so a lot of people in the older generations tend to have a view that America is losing faith in God all together, but I just think that more people are spending their Sundays at home and not in church. Some people think this is bad, and if you are Pat Buchanan you think that less people in church means America is going to burn in the fiery pits of hell.

    I'm of the opinion that there isn't a war on any religion or atheism (unless you believe that certain people in America are waging a war against the Muslims and vice-versa) (Although I think it's more westernization that Christianity). I just think people are bewildered by change, and a more vocal group of atheists are more prominent today.

    You make some good points. As for the bolded, and how it is relevant, I think it is related to another current thread on the increasing "coarseness" in our society. People in my parents' generation tend to believe that it is because of a growing rejection of God and religion. I personally think it's just because people no longer have the self-control to stop themselves from making asses of themselves, and they openly exhibit their trashy behavior. The religious constraints that used to serve to make people cognizant of their socially acceptable behaviors, have been lifted, and they are letting it all hang out, unfortunately.

    I personally am not trying to convince anyone he doesn't exist but there are many others who try hard to convince me he does. Would I call that a war? Hardly, and I actually enjoy talking with religious people and many times invite Jehovah witnesses into my house just to talk and question each other. They want to save me and I enjoy giving them a challenge
