No, the speakers who have the entire audience's ears hostage should just stick to the topic.

"There's no evidence" is different from "There's overwhelming evidence that I choose not to accept".

    Not to derail the thread..

A belief system is not a religion... religions are institutions.

Atheism is lack of belief, and is not a religion.

    How do they batter others?

Atheism is a lack of belief in God, not a lack of belief. In fact, they have a faith, that there is no God. That is a religion.

I lack a belief in Santa Claus.

    Is that a religion?

Go to a museum and look at intermediate fossils.

Also, a good read: The Greatest Show On Earth - Richard Dawkins

But, start with: On The Origin of Species

    A question for Conservatives.

If a Valedictorian in a south carolina school decided to rip up their speech and instead read the islamic Call to Prayer, would you have an issue with that? If so, what would the reason for your taking issue with it?
I would think it to be culturally inappropriate and question the judgment of the speaker for his/her choice in reciting the Adhan. The first thing any good public speaker does is know who their intended audience is. When you are speaking to a group that's made up of a vast majority of Christians, why then would you recite the Adhan to them?

Other than the above concerns I wouldn't really care. In the story you were referencing it made perfect sense for that valedictorian to recite the lords prayer, it was culturally relevant and relevant to the intended audience who then got up and applauded him for doing so.
I believe half of the things I say and say half of the things I believe.
