As another poster mentioned, the dollar won't collapse until oil starts selling in any significant quantities in a currency other than dollars.

I don't think it ever will, honestly. Not in my lifetime anyway. We've been in far worse shape in the past, and we came back. We'll come back from this.

China is on a fast course / track to insert its currency into the dollars reserve currency status, and the UN has already prepared a potentially digital only currency just for that purpose. I don't believe its the next year, but I think failure of the dollar is inevitable.
That may be so, but right now the Fed wants to keep the dollar high so that foreign goods are less expensive to buy - they hope this will help fuel consumer purchasing and in that way give the economy a spike it needs rather than look to more stimulus. Until Americans start buying again, your economy is going to continue to struggle.

Not everyone in America is unemployed - lots of Americans, like lots of American businesses are hanging on to their money or paying down debt, hunkering down because they don't feel confident in their future and they're worried about what health care is going to cost them and if taxes are going to go up, etc. etc.

The American dollar will stay strong, particularly since the EU, the second largest economy in the world behind the US, is stagnant and drowning in debt and money from that market will continue to buy American dollars to invest in American commodities. The American dollar will always be strong because prevailing opinion will always be that it's the safest, strongest currency in the world and if it crashes it will be pitch-forks and torches in the streets and money won't matter anyway.

    Spending?
Every newly printed dollar gets it's value by diluting the value of dollars already in circulation.

If you have 20$ an hour salary and they keep printing money, your salary is soon worth 10$ per hour, but you get taxed at the $20 rate.

Printing fiat money and over spending is government robbing the people.

America may need stimulus in the form of spending on infrastructure that gets people working, money into the hands of people, and provides income to contractors and construction workers, etc. One time, one shot, focused spending that gives a tangible end product that benefits society. You do not need stimulus that keeps teachers working for a year but that states can't afford to keep paying going forward. You don't need stimulus that wastes untold millions and billions on pie in the sky green energy initiatives that have no market and cost the consumer far more than conventional energy sources. In other words, you don't need any of the pet projects of President Obama which means you won't have stimulus until Obama is gone.
