I have always been big on history, probably 3/4th of my book collections deal with history or bio's. but one can't read every book.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

The plot can be summed up as: The Germans are the source of everything wrong with the planet Earth. Gas them and it will never rain on your birthday again. You're an antiSemite if you don't want the same.................................

    Re: Impeachable Offense

A more accurate question would be "Should denying the right to due process to citizens who are believed to be actively engaging or supporting deliberate attacks on Americans and who are currently out of the reach of our domestic system of due process be an impeachable offense". The answer to that question is "No".

Personally, I don't care whether someone is a US citizen or not. If they are known to be conspiring to murder others, I have no moral or ethical issues with having them killed. Our system of due process isn't good in and of itself. Our system of due process is good because it's a useful means to preventing wrongful convictions and abuse of power - which history has shown to be a legitimate problem when the power to convict is given to an individual like a king. But from what I understand, Al-Awaki's death was not an instance of wrongful conviction.

As targeted killings and the drone program expands, we probably need to develop a similar system with better oversight than we have now in order to prevent wrongful convictions and abuse of power. But I think it's stupid and morally irresponsible to sit back and allow an individual to use their US citizenship as a loophole for immunity while they actively contribute to violence against innocent Americans.

I think if death of an american by government is suspected to be murder, it should just go to criminal court, not the senate and house.

On top of everything, won't making it an impeachable offense effectively make life and death of people a popularity game? Elected representative are going to vote mostly based on their voters public opinion.

Then you can have scenarios like:
Let's kill that "Hanoi Jane", we all hate that traitor, right?

    or something like:
How dare you let the great general and true tragic hero of teh true americans, Robert Lee be killed by government thugs, let's impeach Lincoln.

Being a citizen does not disqualify you from being an enemy combatant.

A better question is how opponents of drones attacking American citizens who are also enemy combatants would prefer to neutralize such threats. Is every enemy combatant who is also an American citizen entitled to a SEAL Team chasing them down and reading them their Miranda Rights regardless of how dangerous the situation is?

If you notice something good in yourself, give credit to God, not to yourself, but be certain the evil you commit is always your own and yours to acknowledge.
