Compete? It's more likely these will all just fall under a broader narrative concerning trust in government. I wouldn't worry about not having enough "media cycles" - these stories will have traction for months.
...uh, less than one month later, Benghazi has fallen from the headlines as has the AP story. The IRS story remains in the press, but it getting watered down by IRS overspending on its own conferences. Again, you really can only get traction out of one scandal at a time (which seems to be the IRS) and I continue to maintain this particular scandal is largely misunderstood. It will ultimately prove to be a dead end for the Cons and make them look foolish for trying to make something out of nothing while neglecting their real job of legislating.
