It's called "benefit of the doubt" for a reason. You can do a LexisNexis search while he ponders killing you.
No worries, it just seemed like you were saying something that I guess you weren't saying.

Especially when States are lining up to nullify Federal law. It seems some want Federal Intervention when it suits them, decries an overreaching government when it 'dictates' to the states.

I would have thought a Constitutional amendment at the very least. Though much better would be a court ruling that Individuals have the right to self defense in their home and if threatened with bodily harm out in public- would be interesting to see if requiring CCWs and the like are a State's Right to administer.

I am a firm believer in self defense, however SYG is political posturing.
I smile when you smile because it shows you didn't read my argument.

However, with our judicial system, it's never that simple. I'd go into why, but I think there'd be a few cards played by other posters that I really don't want to elaborate on.

True story, eyewitnessed and videoed by a bud of mine.

Dogs barking, homeowner and his adult son go outside and find a man trying to steal gasoline out the car. He has a screwdriver in hand. Instead of doing the sensible thing and bugging out when he sees two men come out of the house to confront him, one (the son) with a .45 in hand, he starts arguing with them, making threatening gestures with the screwdriver, acting like he might charge... this goes on long enough for neighbors to come out on the porches to look... and finally pushes his luck a bit too far. The son shoots him dead, bang one round through the heart, dead on scene.

Cops show up. Several neighbors came out and bore witness. My friend shows them his video of the incident. The cops talk to the homeowner and shooter for about an hour; a detective comes out.

A couple hours afterward, the dead body is scooped up, the shooter's pistol is returned to him, and the cops go away.

    No charges.

Found out later the dead perp had a long rap sheet including violent felonies.

In my state, the police have to have a reasonable suspicion that such a situation WASN'T self-defense before hauling you in. I prefer it that way.

What a man does in the privacy of his own home is his business. I'm of the opinion it ain't paranoid till he starts waving one at helicopters outside said home.

I would make a Skittles joke, but I'm sure after the in-thread warnings you'd get less than a chuckle out of it.

That story sounds about right, and I'd chalk it up to par for the course. Man, you have to admire the stones of someone who brings a screwdriver to a gunfight.

Funny thing is that the videotape, in my mind, is just icing on the cake. You take everything else out of the equation, and I'd agree with the very same result.

If there's a mod box used upstairs, is it fair game for a sig?
