AFRICOM would certainly have been in touch with Washington, but we don't know whether those four people were mentioned.
Thanks for the information about the personnel, I believe it's correct. One thing of note from my understanding the words order to stand down was not uttered by anyone in the hearings. As for the four people please watch the first video at the following link:

    BS...
Um... no. For example, my battalion commander once ordered me to go to Iraq. He didn't come up with that policy on his own, and decide to invade Fallujah, but rather the orders came on from high and he related them. In the military chain of command, AFRICOM can have or not have what is called OPCON (Operational Control) vice ADCON (Administrative Control) over the JSOC elements in its' area. Tier One units, for example, will often move for the national command authority - in this case both COCOM and the unit are responding to the same power, and the COCOM commander might be read in, but may or may not have operational veto power.

In this instance, it is (I would wager) very unlikely that AFRICOM first stood up and then halted their rapid response units not once but twice.

I don't think anyone has claimed that BHO gave any order.

I know something about the chain of command in the military, in 1964 I was ordered to go to South Korea from Ft. Gordon, Ga.

From my understanding those four people were needed in Tripoli as they feared an attack and it would be too late to get to Benghazi to do any good.

Where that reasoning fails is that Hicks, the senior American authority in Tripoli, did not think they were more needed in Tripoli than in Benghazi.

During questioning, Hicks confirmed that the team was ready to be deployed — not to join the fighting at the CIA annex — but “to secure the airport for the withdrawal of our personnel from Benghazi after the mortar attack.” Hicks also confirmed that it was the second such team to be readied for deployment, with the first having proceeded to Benghazi earlier. Despite the second team not deploying, the staff was all evacuated first to Tripoli, then to Germany, within 18 hours of the attack taking place.

Re: Huckabee: Benghazi will drive Obama from office

As CIC, Obama is responsible for the actions of the men under his command.

If Obama went to bed, when the attack was going on and gave NO order, then he's derelict in his duty as CIC.

Ya see? Here in the real world, Obama doesn't get to wear the laurel wreath for killing UBL and then become totally immune of any responsibility for Benghazi.

When you're in command, command! Commanding means eating the crap, just like you eat the candy. What'd Obama do? He lied about why the attack happened. Why did he lie? Because he knows he was derelict in his duty. Dereliction of duty is a crime.

Yes. None of that is in dispute. The first team that had deployed to Benghazi had been civilians, and included one of those who was killed. The order to stand down was shameful, but did not cost any lives.
