Death penalty for rapist and pedophiles?

Pedophiles don't get better and they have devastated a child's life not to mention devastating the entire family. Rapist have violated a womans rights in the most despicable fashion possible and scarred her for life. The impact of these crimes on children, their parents and women are so grievous that IMO the perpetrates should get the death penalty. Not only would this be justice but the incidents of rape and child molesting-rape would plummet.
I agree with you, 100%, but let's not forget the murderers of our human unborn. They too, should have their brains scrambled before they're sh*t canned.

I don't know how I missed your post back when this thread was active. I agree very much with your thoughts on this. I don't understand how so many people believe that termination of their consciousness is preferable to a brief experience like rape. I think a lot of this has to do with anachronistic Victorian views about sex, which has taught women that rape is a fate worse than death.

Also, feminist rape hysteria plays a role. Women have also been taught by feminism that rape is the worst crime against women, that women must be suspicious of men at all times, every man is a potential rapist, etc. The crime of rape is built up in their minds into a constant threat and one which will almost certainly send them running to a psychologist to try to reconstruct their shattered psyches.

Whether a woman's "life is over" after a rape or not comes down to her premorbid proneness to neuroticism and PTSD. Most women survive being raped without it destroying their entire lives or even coming remotely close to it.

I would mete out a flogging and a fine for the first offense.

OMG. A "brief experience like rape"??? "...taught by feminism that rape is the worst crime against women..."...anachronistic Victorian views about sex, which has taught women that rape is a fate worse than death"... Are you serious?? Women all over the world are being executed in the cruelest possible fashion because they were raped against their will. Other women have dealt with unbelievable physical and mental trauma after having been denigrated, abused, and raped.

How can anyone possibly despise 50% of the population so intensely as to believe such an intimate violation that could lead to unwanted pregnancy and childbirth are basically self-indulgent whiners???? I am stunned to the point of disbelievable fury by such hateful and insidious sexism.

I do agree that the punishment on sex offenders is far to light in many cases, but this is typically not am issue I'm the sentencing phase of the trial but the trial phase. It is very difficult to prove sexual assault for many reasons, most common the only witness which is also the victim in most cases, child molesters are especially difficult to convict because of this. Child victims are often humiliated, have poor linguistic skills and may not understand what occurred. It is heart wrenching to watch.

But the jury can only convict on facts, not feelings. Sadly this is the deepest flaw in the system. A jury would have no problem locking up a child molester if they had proof, what more wretched crime is there? The reason they don't get sentenced to life often is this issue. It's difficult to prove, it's all heresay. It sucks, but that is the system.

I disagree that death penalty would cause a drop in crime. When a person commits a crime they aren't thinking about the punishment, they are thinking about getting away with it.

While these are crimes that should be severely punished, I do not believe the death penalty should apply here. The death penalty should be reserved for a limited number of cases, including certain cases of murder. Applying it to rape n effect means encouraging rapists to aso murder their victims.

I don't care about what happens to women in the rest of the world. I can't do anything to help them. I care about what happens to women in the U.S, and we don't execute women here for being raped.

Unwanted pregnancy is not a forgone conclusion from a rape; it fact it's rather rare. Even should it happen, though, there's the morning after pill or safe and legal abortions available.

This is a perfect example of why emotion should NOT be a factor in justice issues.

Yes, rapists and/or molesters generally do not get cured. Yes, the impact on victims and/or their families is severe. But...

...in your quest for emotional feel-good satisfying "justice", you would essentially be giving a great many rape and molestation victims their own death sentence.

Dead victims bear no witness, and if the perpetrators know their going to be executed if their caught anyway, might as well kill their victim and improve their odds of getting away with it.

ETA: Oh, this is an old thread and I already said this. :3oops:

I wonder how many so called raapes are actually rapes.

I believe that anyone who rapes a child should get the death penalty

Death Penalty or not .... it won't change anything.
There will be still people raping

Minnesota's laws basically allow the state to lock up sex offenders for life. Even after their prison term is up, they can be committed forever. Only one person has ever been released under these laws.
That doesn't bother me, but I'd rather they/we be intellectually honest about it and simply make the sentence LWOP.

Oh, and that they truly are sex offenders, and not the 18 yr old guy who had a 15 yr old girlfriend, or the guy who got drunk and naked at a frat party while in college.

But that's the problem. Rather than making it life without parole, they just make it indefinite "treatment" that doesn't cure anybody.

And the definition of who is a sex offender IS ludicrous.
